kentzer
Hi Guys I've got a Passat 130 TDi Sport, with the standard alloy rims, running the Contisport contact tyres as fitted at new. I replaced the fronts last june at 18k, and they've got about 2 or 3k left now I've hit 32k. The rears are about gone now, and they're the originals. I'm after some recommendations on some tyres that might last a bit longer than 14-18k - I get about 50k out of the tyres on my LR Defender! I've used P6000's before on a Clio RSi (the original one ), but they lasted about 15k on that! The NCT5's look to be quite good value, but what are they like for grip and wear? Munki
wear shoes that are less heavy I always use BF Goodrich, they have great grip for cornering, even in the wet and The back tend to last about twice as long as the fronts. I got about 15k out of the fronts last time.
kentzer
Spotted why the rears weren't too good - it was the NSR, and although it was badly worn on the outside, the inside had plenty of tread - I've got a misaligned wheel which is being sorted tomorrow, hopefully. Went far a new pair of rears though - the Yokohama A539. Same price as the Conti's but nicer tread pattern IMHO! Apparently should last up to 15% longer than the Conti's as well. Asked about the BFG's and they looked quite a good deal. Unfortunately they were unavailable until the middle of next week due to stock shortages, and I was running illegally Cheers Ben

R32North
I'd love to get 18k out a set of tyres, but I'm happy with 12k+. Used to only get 8k out the fronts on my Cuprs!# Anyway, check out www.mytyres.co.uk Theres lost of reviews of all ranges and size of tyres, plus they give grades on tyre wear, noise etc, so you can check to see if a tyre has a hard or soft compound (wear indicator). [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the tip - I'll pop in and see what they've got. The rears are okay now, but the fronts will be living on borrowed time soon...
