Crusader01
Just picked up a Phatnoise on ebay, (seems the US Price has gone back up but there are a few reasonably priced ones on ebay if anyone is keen). Planning on installing it in the storage compartment on the left side of the B6 Avant load space and was hoping someone might be able to help me out with the Bentley manual pages for the dis assembly of the trim bits of the car. Don't want to bust it up too much. Here is what i'm going to have a crack at:- http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/article_522.shtml Thanks Gents. Scotty
It's quite time consuming to find the info in Bentley, print screen, paste into photoshop, edit, save as a file and then upload to my hosting space. If you can be specific about what you want then I'll grab what I can. I don't want to seem unfriendly but I don't want to be spending hours on it. Crusader01
Well it boils down to how do you get the trim out of an B6 Avant load space on the passanger side. I guess its just need a picture which locates the fastners and such like. Seems you need to take the rear seat out to get the panel off, from what I have read. If you did get a spare minute(s) that would be great. Thanks C In an act of pure genius I managed to purchase a B5 Bentley CD, so if anybody needs anything from that, I can have a look. Scotty
I'll check it out when I get home. Did you buy the CD direct? If so they're normally very helpful and may exchange it for you.
Scotty
To remove the side trim you need to : [1]To remove the seat bench, simply yank it up and once it's unpopped from the two latches then pull it forward. [2] Remove the floor trim - If you have the dirt tray let me know as this is another four pages! [3] Remove the plastic trim across the back edge - this you do by removing the two nuts which are located at the bottom edge about 1/3 from each side behind the spare tire. Disconnect the light connector. Unclip the panel - there are four metal clips along the top edge. [4]You have to remove the seat backs. To be honest I wouldn't like to advise on this as they have airbags in. IN summary it involves disconnecting them and the battery and then unbolting. It's 10 pages to do it in the manual. You may be able to do it by unbolting and just moving the seat away form the trim a few inches. [5] Time for the side trim : Position the tie-downs -5- upward (1x or 2x depending on version). - Remove the two phillips-head screws -6- in tie-downs. - Unclip clip -3-. - Disengage clip -3- from tab. - Disengage three clips -4-. - If necessary, remove cover -2-. - Remove luggage compartment trim -1- upward. Crusader01
Thats excellent, thanks alot, hope you weren't at that all night. Hopefully i'll have a go at that soon. Unfortunately my Bentley CD was an unfortunate purchase from ebay. I think I might have to invest in a more genuine article, did you get yours in the UK or direct from the US. Thanks Again, C
Scotty
It wasn't too bad. The problem I do have with it is that search doesn't work!
