Chav
Guys, I've seen loads of B7 saloons on the road now. And I've made my mind up about the new grill on the A4... it looks pants!!! It just doesnt work with the A4 at all. Everytime I see a B6 s-line I think "lookin good!", but everytime I see a B7 I cringe. The big W12 A-8 looks cool with the new grill. The A6 less so, but its not that bad. Trouble is not many people seem to buy black A6's so usually they are silver and that just doesnt work with the big black grill I'm worried I'm going to be stuck with my B6 cab for a while, or i'll have to swap to "the other side"...because B7 looks just dont do it for me at all discuss
Ari
I think it is a bit colour dependant, if I were to buy a new A4 saloon right now I'd probably have black, which would tone it down a bit. Its growing on me I have to say, but the new A4 does seem a little "tweaked for the sake of it", in other words they felt they had to update the look so they changed stuff about like the rear lights which is not necessarily an improvement. But I've felt that before about new models and in time I've liked them and the old models have started to look dated. I've not seen enough to really make up my mind. I love the new grille on the A6, but it looks "grafted on" on the poor little A3 Sportback, almost as though its been forced to wear it to join in. AZURES3
I could not agree more the A8 & A6 look ok with the new grill but I dont think the A4 manages to include the new grill in the looks. Glad I did not cancel my order and wait. I feel sorry for people who prefer the light colours as all that black in the grill looks like a guppy fish. UBM
Only seen 1 on the road, was it a sportback, A4 or A6, wait till it went past - oh it was an A4. And in a really horrible pale blue. DOn't like!
bearra
Agree CabrioJ, I cannot take to it, A6 looks mean and well smart! But curvy front lights just look IMHO AUDI = dynamic lines NOT = Japanese curves! Rear looks nice in reality though. Seems a bit strange that the A6 rear styling is a take on the old A4 rear and then they change A4 rear to a take on the A3 sportback. Not logical with my thinking A8 is just awesome, shame it doesn't get the repsect it deserves in the market!
El_Dingo
I saw a silver B7 the other day - thought the rear end especially is a great improvement. (My black B7 arrives next week... ) The bit I don't like when I had a look in the showroom last weekend is the awful steering wheel.

[/ QUOTE ] wait til you see the front of the car... suddenly you wont mind the steering wheel as much although to be fair, its looks less crap on black. However "less crap" is the best way i can think to describe it. Its still not appealing.

UBM
Come to the conclusion, if you're getting a company car and just want an Audi, the B7 is fine. But if you're s car enthusiast and are bothered about how the car looks, handles etc, then the B7 is a pile of Poo!

But they rushed it
Phantom
I think the problem with the B7 grill is that it is slightly out of proportion to the size of the A4, take a look at the new A6 and A8 and you will see what I mean. I don't like the rear end at all. Having said that I do like the rear end of the new Avant, if I was seriously looking at a new tintop I would personally go for an S-Line Avant, it just looks the more complete car to me. Probably have to go for silver then that way the grill will 'appear' to blend in a bit better than it currently does. They should get some members from TSN into their pre-launch customer clinics , that way they would get some top quality advice
UBM
Just for a change! I'm so glad, when I bought my car a year ago and the salesman said "the facelift is coming out in November" that I didn't listen to him! Although I was cursing him at the time when just getting into the car!
UBM
Oh, and you'd need two chrome grill kits to fit the new B7 grill!
ian_m
Just a little sobering thought here, No matter how bad we all think the B7 looks, it will NEVER, EVER look as bad as the 1 series!!!!! (you must have seen that one coming!)

IMHO I reckon if you showed the old and the new to someone who had never seen either they would say the old shape is the newer model - does that make sense As for 1 series WHY??????? Sparky
A black B7 parked next to mine at B&Q the other day. When I got back, the owner was smugly putting things into his boot and said "New and old eh?" as he pointed to mine. I just replied - "yeah, and didn't I make the right choice too". He then retored with "You're having a laugh aren't you?!" SO.... I told him all the things I liked about mine over the jap-looking B7 and the wrong looking nose. I was polite about it, but was trying to shut the smug twat up. He agreed mine looks smarter and more aggressive, but that his was overall a fresher look. I got in my car seeing that there was no point in arguing - each to their own. Still think it's looking less Audi now than the older models. I'll not by buying another A4, that's certain. IanHo
Had to laugh today, reading a review of the B7 in my local rag. According to the obviously well informed reviewer, the interior is "far superior to the outgoing model" and the engines are now longitudinally mounted apparently. How I bathed in his infinite wisdom (not)!

Milo
Been reading the papers and found an article on the 1 series. BMW are about to launch the 130i with a 3 litre V6 285 bhp 0-60 6 seconds. It quotes "...knocks spots off the A3 3.2 V6 quattro sportback". It looks pants but I bet it shifts though!
