Hi im new to this forum and have been searching the net and have come across you peeps!

Sadly this week I staked my audi A4 cabriolet! now if i go through insurance purposes my car is going to be recorded as a totall loss......i dont want this:( i love the car!

The damage is not to bad. it looks worse then it actually is!

I have decided to go about it my own way and get it repaired myself. however, the company repairing have stated that i will need to find a audi a4 cab that is in a scrap yard to make it cheap, otherwise it is pointless! The reason they need scrap is confused.gif so they can strip the parts needed for repair! does anyone have one? or can they point me in the right direction!

I have rang several yards but its like finding a needle in a haystack!!

I cant be the only idiot to smash there car up!? ( well i hope not ) has anyone had there car declared a right off? if so where is it? i need several panals, fan + pipes etc.

PLEASE HELP!!

what do you think i should do?

please pm me or leave a message on this forum!! many thanks

Hi, and welcome to the board.

Surely the car will only be written off if the repair costs are more than the value of the car once repaired?

And since A4 Cabrios are relatively new on the scene this must be £20,000+ at least?

I can't help thinking that if it needs more than £20,000 worth of repairs then it'll want more than a few scrapyard bits to sort it out...? confused.gif

Parts brand new from audi will cost that alone! but if i can find one already declared off road i am in with some hope! My friend is repairing for me ( well his company is ) and it is on the cheap...if i can find the parts its wiser for me to repair - if i cant i will need to declare the car and sting my insurance company!

I am on the end of bad luck - my first car ( years back now!!) i ever had was a pug 206 ( on my fathers insurance! < he wasn't happy!!! > ) - all it had was an engine fire! the car was insured at 10g. but the cost off repaire probably would off been £3000... the insurance company for some reason didnt do this then and for some reason i dont think they will on my audi as its in a worse state!! frown.gif((

anyone have any idea where i could locate my requirements?

I'm in the process of fixing the missus' dented bonnet. got the bonnet (pug 206) for 80 notes, instead of the 300 quoted by most repair shops, and the paint job will be about £180.

try a search on google for audi parts or the following.

http://www.247spares.co.uk/audi-parts/

http://www.partsgateway.co.uk/ (quite good response, but slightly more expensive)

Most of these parts people on the net are network based, so you put your request in, they send out requests to their local stockists or scrap dealers and they get back to you. i went through the yellow pages and most of them have web addresses. Also, my bonnet was brand new, primed, so you can get new parts for the price of scrap. good luck!

You can also try ringing up these chaps, who I bought the bonnet from. They were the cheapest of all the quotes I got.

Auto Continental Ltd

01782 207555

Their card says new/used recon components. trade discounts, recon/used engines. min 4 months guarantee. next day delivery service.

They seem to do this a lot, came back from the pub one day to find a plume of smoke apparently coming from my house! Got closer to find the neighbours' Peugeot on fire and had to call the boys in the big red van. My car was parked right in front of it, worryingly; had to get in and drive it away while hoping the petrol tank didn't catch from the heat behind.

Started on the passnger side right behind the headlight, I think the firemen found.
