Ari
Just been asked by a mate who's thinking of getting one.
Big_Dan
Not flat, flat, no. (If that makes sense!)
farhan
Nope, the seat cushion does not come up. Even on the split folding versions.
Milo
Not only do they not fold flat but you have to push the front seats forward to fold the rears down or the headrests hit the backs of the front seats. Once the rears are down you can then slide the fronts back. I would imagine if you had electric seats (which I undertand are not the quickest) this would drive you nuts! Not very well thought out IMO.
Ari
So you can drop the back of the rear seats to extend the boot into the cabin then?
Milo
Split folding rear seats are not standard on the saloon. They are a £250 option from memory. The B6 s-line saloons came with it as standard I think but not any more on the B7. I did a lot of work in my house last year and could easily get 1800mm x 600mm sheets of plasterboard in the back with the seats down. It would have been better if the seats folded flat but for £250, what do you expect!
Chav
[ QUOTE ] but for £250, what do you expect [/ QUOTE ] or for just £50, you can get a roof rack the cab is surprisingly good for large loads.... you just lower the roof and you can fit plenty in. i've had 2 bikes in their boxes in the back
Milo
Given my luck in recent weeks I would scratch the roof putting the roof rack on then put a window out while trying to load it As I am writing this my car is at the dealers having the wing renewed after I tried to demolish the garage door. That hot on the heels of having to get a new windscreen although to be fair that wasn't my fault At least my 1.2 VW Polo loan car looks nicer than the 1-series

Ari
Ok thanks guys. So if he's buying second-hand it basically depends whether the original owner specced them?
Big_Dan
I think it was std on later SE spec? Depends on the year.
Milo
I've still got the glossies from when I ordered mine in 2003 and according to the book it was still an option on the SE then. Only the Avant (all specs) had it as standard. Oh and it was £280 not £250 as I first thought I don't know how easy it will be to find a second hand saloon with split rear seats Ari - I don't think it is particularly high on most people's option wish lists. Ari
Ok, so folding rear seats standard on S-line only. How about cruise control and aluminuim side strips? Standard on anything?
Big_Dan
Ah, yes. Had to spec it on our last saloon as it was a sport. They added cruise to the SE spec in '03?
Milo
When I ordered mine in Feb 2003 the sport pack was discounted to £290 and included: 17" 5 spoke alloys Sports seats c/w electric lumbar support Leather 3 spoke steering wheel + gear knob Sports suspension Electric mirrors + heated washer jets Concert II c/w single CD The 2.4, 2.5 tdi and quattros (not 1.8T) came with aluminium window trims and electric rear windows but none came with aluminium interior, cruise, half leather etc If I had ordered before end of 2002, all sport packs only came with 16" wheels, no CD player and no electric mirrors. Phew! I don't know about S-line models but I'm sure someone can help there.

Milo
Absolutely spot on DM - I think the SE was upgraded in Jan 2003 to include cruise and when I ordered my sport in Feb 2003 the SE spec was a free upgrade
