rainbirdt
Afternoon peeps, Considering my terrible luck with purchasing an R so far (they keep being sold from under my nose ),the fact that the fecking stealers insist on keeping the prices unreasonably high and that there are a decreasing number of DPB Rs within 100 miles of London ( ), I am considering a private purchase. There are obviously numerous pros and cons to this approach and any advice/previous experiance would be most appreciated. I just can't help thinking that, because I don't no a great deal about the mechanics of a car, that buying one privately does leave you open to issues (and inevitably £££s) in the future. For example, apologies is this is a stupid question, does the warranty carry over with the sale of the car regardless of whether I bought it from a stealer or not. And if so, can you take it to any stealer for warranty work?? Cheers guys and gals, Tim

TP27
[ QUOTE ] why dont you buy Riz's car? [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely, Riz has kept his R32 in prestine condition and it must be your best bet. You'll get the balance of the remaining VW warranty and he's just had the first service. Idea? TP. loddrik
I always buy private if possible, as long as the car is under warranty, and you get it thouroghly (is that even spelt right?) checked out, you should have no problems.
Mollox
What does it cost to have such a thorough examination lodders?
loddrik
Depends who with really, £110 - £180, or if you have the opportunity to take it to a specialist who knows the Marque you are about to purchase, much less. The RAC do a reasonable one for £110, if the car had manufacturers warranty, mechanical issues are not such a big deal.

dazr32
riz's car looks like it has been kept in exceptional condition he even cleans the tailpipes every night when he gets out of it . lets face it bud you would be buying virtually a brand new unmolested example with absolutely nothing at all wrong with it and less than ten thousand on the clock, first service done, the spec you are looking for and remember that the five door is rarer than the three door. come son you know it makes sense.
