sayerbloke
Though I didn't ask, apparently BMW main dealers charge almost £100 per hour in labour for work carried out. I found an independant specialist and had them replace the brake discs and pads on my car, front and rear. I supplied the parts so it was just the labour I was being charged for. I made an estimate in my head and the price was about that, though someone I`ve just spoken to reckons that it seemed overpriced. With that in mind, let's get some opinions here. cruiser647
What car is it? As some discs/pads can be a right pain in the arse to get off! The Audi V8 had the wierd front inboard discs, with UFO brakes (any V8 owner will know) and they were pi55 easy to replace! I usually find it is the little screw that holds the discs on that is the bguger to get off - ended up using a drill on it once! Other than that, should be a 2 - 3 hr job - so I will go and vote! (AND you are in Norfolk, so labour rate will be lower than anywhere near London!)

sayerbloke
Any final thoughts before I tell you what I paid? Has to be said, from those answers and what a couple more people reckoned today, it was probably fair

sayerbloke
[ QUOTE ] well we are all waiting [/ QUOTE ] With some 8000 registered users I thought I`d wait for them all to vote! OK, the bill was: £120 labour £10ish for a replacement sensor [brake disc thickness?] £5ish environmental disposal + VAT So all in came to just under £160, but you can drop about £20 off for those other things. Which is roughly what I was expecting, but after a couple of people I spoke to reckoned that was quite a bit I thought I`d get some more opinions
Eire_Lou
Servicing must be cheaper in the UK! I paid €400 (£275) for my cars first service a few months ago. All very standard stuff, except they managed to screw up replacing the wiper blades, which came apart the first time I used them resulting in deep scartches all over the front of my roof! - I'm just having a rant now....but you should feel happy and lucky
sayerbloke
Oh, I looked at the cost of routine servicing, and that seemed more like that sort of price. And you`d be surprised how many places do miss wiper blades when doing a service
