carlos50
Does anybody know if it is possible to fit the front bumper grille from a facelift S8 into a pre facelift version. I am told the whole bumper wont go on without front end mods so i thought the grille would be the next best thing. If it would go close i have the facility to mod the grille perhaps. Has anybody done this ?
Ska
This guy from Sweden did it! If i can remember correctly I think there were some minor mods. you'll find a link to his website on http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/425122 Sorry I thought you meant front bumper and grill, Doh! Botang
I assume you are trying to get the chrome strip look that the newer one has. I dont think the newer grill fits but you could just use the edging stip on the existing grill as I did. I followed PaulW's instructions here
carlos50
That sounds a great idea. Where did you get the edge strip from ?
carlos50
Just looked at the webpage for the guy from Sweden. It says he put facelift bumpers on his pre facelift car. Does this work or are extensive mods needed ? BTW i do mean the front. I want the chrome effect lower grille.

[/ QUOTE ] Not sure which guy you mean from Sweden Anyway I got my edging strip from my local Wilco Carmaster Store but I think Halfords and the like sell it. From what I have read putting post facelift bumpers onto a pre facelift car is almost impossible, it involves changing the whole front end of the car to do it properly (bonnett, lights, wings, etc)
A8_Tony
Recently Botang and I looked very closely at the front end of the pre-facelift and post facelift A8's. The whole grill is different. The newer grills are slightly sharper on the bottom corners and thus look significantly different. It may well be easier to investigate swapping the whole bonnet? the guy from Sweden is Fredrik, posted a while back with his S8 on 20" Antera's, IIRC he buckled one of them too. carlos50
Looks like edging tape is the way to go then. I do not want to swap my whole front end since my car is in v nice condition and i want to keep it original bodywork without re painting etc. Will have a look for the edge strip in my local Halfords.
