UBM
Decided to remove the tuning box from the blingmobile. Im concerned about long-term engine damage and decided for the trips I do don't need the extra horses - I'm sure I'll get a ticket soon otherwise! Anyway, the good news is I've saved myself 160 pounds on my insurance and also am no longer invalidating my gap insurance.
Chav
removing some of the solid chrome bling could give you the extra horses back... in terms of power/weight ratio
Milo
Would it not have invalidated the warranty as well if Audi Assist had clocked it on one of their monthly meetings with you?
UBM
Indeed it would Milo my friend. Which is why it was cunningly disguised in my coat pocket again for the fourth time in 3 months! At least I won't have to bugger about when I call them again next month! He didn't seem to smell a rat - I just played honest and claimed to know zip about cars (which is true).
Sparky
Have you noticed much difference though? Fancy selling it to me?!
UBM
I would love to sell it Sparkt but it might be that resulted in my latest Audi Assist call...
Sparky
Do you think a remap would give the same faults then?
UBM
No - a re-map adjusts the cars processor system...but you'll really need to tell your dealer
Scotty
Have you declared the bling? Just a thought as if you do something that makes the car more attractive (perhaps a discussion for a separate thread!! ) then that makes it more attractive to thieves and therefore theres a possible premium hit. Just a thought
UBM
Yep! I declared all the bling, itemised it all and sent photos! The only two things they were interested in listing were the grill and the rear parking sensor...... I'm actually quite chuffed that I've removed the box of tricks! Scotty
I don't quite understand why you've pulled it now. If you are concerned about the effect on engine life then fair enough but if you're possibly going to sell (re Cab thread) then what difference a few more thousand miles? UBM
Cos of the problem I had today - the EMS light came on - Audi Assist (with tuning box removed before they arrived) found a sporadic fault with the fuel temp sender (which is where the tuning box goes!). I've had to take it off four times in the past three months.......!
