marriedblonde
I've just put my 04 r32 up for sale so thought I would have a look in te classifieds on here and the prices seem to be a little optimistic to me. Are these cars selling for the prices in the classifieds or not? Are these cars moving on at all? J.
lenny
Honestly J?? If I got £18.5k for mine I would be happy. The last offer from a dealer I was given was £17.5k, and the car was due on the forecourt for £19995k
Markallain
It goes without saying that there are lots of issues to take into consideration when putting a price on a sought after car. I've sometimes had a bargain and other times maybe paid over the odds. I personally think that if there are R32's going for under £20K there is a good reason such as higher mileage, low spec, dubious history, accident damaged, generally bad condition, etc etc. Or that the person wants a quick sale / dealer can make a quick profit. I think that prices for the better cars are holding up well and if you are prepared to be patient £20K+ buyers are not in such short supply. Some are just realising what a great car the R is and wishing they could have had one from new! Your well looked after example is now the car they want! loddrik
To be fair, R32 prices have held up a lot better than I would have expected (no, this isn't an R32 goading post ), prices are bound to slide, but unless you are planning to keep the car long term, soon would probably be the time to sell, as the replacement is out before year end IIRC, prices would likely calm down again 12 months after the replacement is released. Markallain
Lodders - Do you know for certain new R will be out before year end? I doubt this very much unless it is released at Geneva show next month. Who knows if the new car will better? If not then prices will stay firm. There has been talk of the new version being "softer" which may mean little impact on MK4 R32 prices. With very little detail on the new R nobody really knows what will happen. For buyers I'd say go ahead and enjoy a newish example while you can. There doesn't seem to be that many great ones around
Calm Chris
R32 replacement due in Europe (LHD) 2006, VW UK will get end allocation, some 9 months after car is on the forecourt in Europe. That's from memory and was from carpress thingy mid 2004 / last year! So it's about 2 years from the UK shoreline.
Calm Chris
I reckon my R32 2002 Magic /diamond black 3 door standard with R3VWG plate 12000 miles, newish F1's would sell at £19,995 (and thats after £500 of work to take minor alloy cuff's and area of keyed paint out). TP27
German car press in Geneva airport last weekend had a VW feature on the new Passat and in the "year ahead" feature they had the R32 replacement down as October 2005 in Germany. I am assuming that'll mean a UK launch in Spring 2006?
shao_khan
It was originally penned for replacement Christmas 2005, but havent seen any more on it recently. I am amazed how well R32 prices have held up, but I see now they are finally becoming a little more realistic.
OwenW
I'm new to the R32 world having bought a 53 reg in the last few weeks. Having looked around for a few months I think prices have come down a bit since Christmas, particularly if buying from non-VW dealers. Quite a few sub £20k examples around that are well spec'd Perhaps the new GTI is having an impact?
Ritey
Welcome Owen , the GTI could well be doing that, then again, the car has been out a couple of years now ..... So what spec you got etc ....
MattR32
I reckon mine's worth £18.5k max. Nov '03, 53 reg, leather, cruise, spotless alloys, 21.5k miles (rising fast). Damn my high mileage lifestyle!
marriedblonde
Hmmmm I suppose time will tell. Mines a feb 04 model with 18K on the clock and it is unmarked (I know I know everyone says that) theres no marks on the alloys, a couploe of stone chips on the front but no scratches and the interior really is like new. Oh and 6 months tax and 4 new f1's Fingers crossed I managed to get rid of it. I'd like £19K for it...
art15t
I recently bought mine for £23,7500(11K miles) with several thou's worth of additonal extras: * Milltek AMD 270bhp remap & Exhaust (+£850) * Legal privacy windows done@porche of stockport (+£300) * Kenwood DVD Sound/Movie system with 10 CD-Changer + Kenwood AMP and massive sub-woofer (+£2,500) * Recaro leather seats (+£1,900) * Xeons (+£200) So that's roughly £5.5K's worth of extra's. I probably paid slightly over the top but aprt from satnav this is a TOTR vehicle. I would have thought the £20K mark is probably near as does it for yours! [/ QUOTE ] Silver, 5dr, full leather, cruise control with 12k miles Don't have sat nav or sun roof Curious about hesitation issue as have not noticed it and dealer (non-VW) wasn't able to say if ECU was updated. However probably not the thread for this....
art15t
Ok I stand corrected on that I wasn't quite sure if they were konigs or Recaro(being a newbie) but the price tag I think is correct...+£1900 and as far as the xenons go...i'm a little confused cos I've definately seen them listed as extras....but what the hell knock off the couple of hundred quid. The extras still add up to several thou more than the bog standard. The car is immaculate and was well worth the price. ART
Luke
I think that mileage seems to be playing a big part in prices. Get a few miles on an R32 (25000 and up) and the prices start to fall.
R32Ash
[ QUOTE ] Ok I stand corrected on that I wasn't quite sure if they were konigs or Recaro [/ QUOTE ] If you open the door and have a look at the side of the seat - the bit usually hidden by the door pocket? - there's an embroidered Koenig logo. And yes, they were £1900 extra. The xenons are standard though as they are part of the winter pack which all R32's have as standard. Sounds like a nicely specc'd car anyway mate
Zenyck100
i dont think you get many bargains with cars, especially when you buy from a dealer. im looking at one now which is 23K from a dealer with low mileage. prices are varying between 21K - 23K depending on extras and areas. not one of us will have much chance of gaining money on a sale of a car. you always lose £1000's. Its just the way its is. my thoughts are buy it if you like it. your only here once so enjoy.

marriedblonde
Yer cars going with the BBS CH's I've had a change in circumstances - got married and accepted redunadancy last year and want something a bit more economical to run. I've bought myself an Audi A3 2.0Tdi DSG s-line which I get on the 1st of March so long as the R's gone by then. J.
