citizen
I've a problem with a drivers window on a 2001 S6 not closing properly. Noticed a few posts on a similar vein in this and other Audi forums. The window has been lubricated with silicone which improves general movement but it now stutters near to the top of the travel and then backs off with the safety feature built in. It seems as though the window has dropped at one side (furthest from the hinge). If I flick the switch, I can get the window to just about close. But even then you can see the window is low at one side. I can 'pull' this up by lifting the glass by hand. Anyone any experience of this? How easy is it to raise one side of the window lifter by a quarter of an inch? I looked inside the door and the mechanism looks fairly simple but don't want to disassemble if its likely to be a nightmare..... Thanks in advance Mark. grahamb
CTRL-ALT-DEL should do the trick 8-)
Edd_W
it will be the plastic guides which are prone to breaking. It is a relatively easy job which will take about an hour if you have not done one before. Buy the two guides from a dealer first then dismantle the door, including removing the subframe which forms the window frame. You will then see the two clips. It is likley to be just the rear one which has broken. If you are not sure which clips to buy, I think I can possibly find the part No.
citizen
Thanks for the suggestions. I think the guides are the blue or green bits of plastic that actually clip on the base of the window? The local Audi dealer's fairly helpful about getting parts. The only thing now it to wait for a day when it isn't snowing / raining / blowing a gale when I can change the parts over :-)
citizen
Finally some reasonably decent weather! Parts from Audi dealer less than 5 Quid. About 45 minutes to install them and all working fine now. Thanks for the help!
