I went out in the car last night everything was fine when i got home and parked the car for the night, I came out this morning got in started the car, looked over and the sterio was off, thought hmm thats strange, so i turned it on and it said "safe" like the battery was disconnected during the night, but everything else was fine car start first time with no problems.

has anyone else had this kind of problem?? its an audi symphony with 6cd changer all in one unit.

I did leave the sterio on all the way to work (just over an hour) but made no difference. I know in my old car when the sterio would lock like that if the code was entered wrong too many times.

any ideas?? confused.gif

It may be a sign that your battery is on the way out. As the temperature dropped in the night, the battery voltage may have fallen a little and the radio thought it lost power all together.

You'll need to re-enter the radio code to get that going again (it should be in with your handbook) and otherwise get the battery tested before it lets you down.

Yep i found the code in the manual before i left but i cant enter it becuase the sterio just says "safe" like someone has put the wrong code in too many times UHOH7.GIF

volt meter did show plenty of power in the battery before i started the car and the car didnt sound like it had any trouble at all starting, I will get it checked the weekend though just incase 169144-ok.gif

I had it change channel on me a few times overnight, normally on one particular setting, got in and started it up a few weeks back and it was on some local radio station ( News Flash - local man hurts thumb with hammer in shock DIY accident, we have a reporter on the scene, right now... ) that I never listen too. Wasnt RDS or traffic as this was all off. Very odd....

No - it's the dashboard ghost again. I'd managed to exorcise it from my aircon. Looks like you've got it now!

Was anything resting on the stereo overnight which may have inadvertantly pushed the buttons too many times?

You could call Audi Assist - everytime I ring my stealer with a problem, that's what they say!

maybe i got one of audi advanced safty sterio's that doesnt allow you to listen to music on a foggy day for less distraction and thats why it says safe, either that or some chav has looked at it or touched it SMOKE6.GIF

i'll have a look at it tonight when i get home if i cant get it working i will ring audi assist SPericani2.gif

Audi Assist may tell you to get lost, but I doubt it! They seem very amenable to fixing cars. I've now got our area controllers business card as I'm such a frequent flyer! He said he would order some parts if the last problem comes up again and come to home or work to fix it - result!
