nick1972
I heard that the LED cluster in E46's is capable of multi-stage brightness (harder you brake...brighter the light) but the software has not been put on yet whilst BMW clear it with the SVA or other UK authority. Anyone heard this or is it a load of ?
Lagoo
Yep its true, but the last i had heard (year ago) the EU where passing some euro legislation for them to be available! The lights are already able to do this as i understand but i could never get a dealer to do the necessary via their diagnostic computer
mobmad
Brake Force Display (BFD) in the E46 M3 is where the outer brackets of brighter LEDs come on when braking hard (triggered when decellerating more than 5m/secĀ²). Each model needs EU homologation for this function and IIRC the E46 (M3) got this in December 2003. Certainly my (build date) 07/2003 M3 didn't have it and my (build date) 02/2004 M3 does. xspencex
Is it true that the system is not allowed for the UK?...if so why...sounds like a great safety feature?
