Sinfield
ITV Headquarters, Clacton-on-sea, Thursday. Despite still planning to show the fairly meaningless Saturday qualifying session live, it appears that ITV is not going to show the decisive, Sunday morning final qualifying. The reason given is that they do not want to 'dominate the day with F1'. We spoke to ITV's scheduler of Sunday drivel, Reg Smegma, who explained, 'On Sunday mornings, it is impossible to show final qualifying as we have repeats of the previous days lower division football to show, and then a bit of God orientated stuff to keep the grannies happy'. We asked Mr Smegma why the station could not use ITV 2 or 3 but Mr Smegma went on ' Hey, those two channels are for prime stuff, like back to back repeats of American Idol and anything Ant and Dec have scraped together the previous evening'. FIA head honcho Max Mosley confirmed qualifying would stay with this format, especially as German uber channel RTL always wanted it this way, as the Germans would even tune in to watch the warm up sessions when they were on. So, the whole two day qualifying thing is tailored to suit the Germans. Grand Prix Diary asks, Who won the bloody war anyway ? Bobski (season preview pt 1 on the site !) sayerbloke
[ QUOTE ] as the Germans would even tune in to watch the warm up sessions when they were on [/ QUOTE ] I used to watch them when I could get RTL through my Sat reciever! It used to be more entertaining than the race itself so I`d watch the warm-up when I woke up just to get a half hour "fix" of motor racing and then have the rest of the day free to do whatever I had planned Anyway, quality stuff as usual, bobski.
