Daz
[ QUOTE ] Britain's main motor show is to return to London following an absence of nearly 30 years. Now the next show, to take place in 2006, will be staged at the Excel centre in London's Docklands. [/ QUOTE ] BBC News

[/ QUOTE ] I live firmly in the south, but the southwest. It would take me longer to get to Excel than to the NEC! Plus Excel is smaller. I went to the motorshow whenever it was on at NEC, doubt I'll bother now its shrunk and moved to a far more difficult place to get to. What a shame... CarMad
I couldn't agree more. I have always gone to the NEC, despite the very high cost and silly car parking charges. But I will not be going to the shop in London I am afraid especially if the venue is smaller. We need a yearly low cost show that can attract people of all ages and locations. Birmingham was a great location for all IMO, it was just the cost to the individual or more importantly the family that was stupid. If they took a longer term view and didn't try to make such huge profits it could have been a real winner. Not now it won't.
Cupramax
Very disappointed at this. Motorshows used to be one of the highlights of my year. Always looked forward to looking around and having a sit in all the new model and NEC was ideal. Even parking was OK if you parked in the station and not the extortionate show car parks. Gabster
As a Brummie I am pissed I wont be going to London it would be quicker to go to Paris. I think the problem has been a lot of the manufacturers have dropped out of the NEC the last few shows I know BMW werent at the last show and crowds have been down since the late eighties when it used to be heaving. Last year I walked around quite easily with no hassle. I think yo will se the crowds continue to drop in London, the NEC has become dearer but the London show will be even more expensive to go to. Its the same old story the South East dictates the rest of the contry thats why the new Wembley has been built even though in a poll of football supporters more than half wanted the stadium located at the M6/M42/M6 Toll road junction at the NEC. London dont give a shite about the rest of the country even though 85% of the country live within 100 miles of Manchester. I pissed we have to pay for the 2012 Olympics you aint got a chance and I dont want it. Where would you rather go Madrid, Paris, New York London or Moscow. London would come joint 4th IMHO. JaffaCake
To be honest, for anyone over 17, I fail to see the attraction of the motorshow any more. If I want to sit in a new Porsche I'll go to my local Porsche dealer like AFN in Guildford. Better than fighting the crowds. Working for a car firm, I can get press-day passes and free hospitality (free beer) and even then it lacks appeal. Why people pay for it is quite beyond me.
