UBM
What's the difference? Could this explain why my GALA don't work - I have a Symphony..
Chav
no you dont, you have a symphony II.
Daz
Symphony II has the built in 6 CD changer. Symphony only had a single slot CD.
UBM
So why have I got the instruction manual for a Symphony? Should it not be clearly marked Symphony II. I suspected the only difference was the 6CD changer.....

Frodo
Have you RTFM for your Symphony? If you have Bose then you won't have Gala as the Bose system dynamically changes the sound, i.e it is quieter at low speed and louder at high speed
UBM
Dammit - I thought this might have explained the GALA not working. I don't have Bose but still can't get the fecker to work....and I'm not the only one!
Frodo
I am pretty sure it is disabled with Bose system but it maybe symphony II fullstop. I know I read it in the manual when I first got the car. You kow when it is all new and shiney and you read all the paperwork and manuals
UBM
I've read the manuals several times and it still don't seem to work. Perhaps you're right and the function is not connected for Sym II ....
Chav
I'll go and test mine in a bit then. never used it. i always turn it off when i buy a car because its annoying to have the volume waivering... especially in stop/start traffic....grrrr! Big_Dan
I don't think it has ever worked - I'm sure I've seen this discussion before. It really is annoying in the TT, I'll have to dig the manual out and turn it off ...
UBM
Indeed I found the original thread from a while ago (Google!). Still no clearer....I just tend to have the volume set to about 25-30 anyways!
cheechy
Isn't 30 all the way up? Thats loud

Frodo
Does work with the Bose and dynamic range control or whatever it is called. I just don't think it is very subtle and could be improved. If I recall back to my S3 Gala didn't seem to work on that either

UBM
Just called the stealer - the GALA on the Symphony II question - they will call me back (I can just see it - feck, where's the manuals, whats a symphony II)
chunky
I have the symphony II with Bose but the volume does not seem to go up or down with background. I usually end up changing the volume myself. When the volume is adjusted automatically does it actually give some sort of symbol on the display ? As has been suggested IRTFM and found why Gala isn't an option on my audio
Chav
I just tested it on a drive to get lunch. The only effect is psychological i think.
UBM
Cheers Chavrio - may explain why my stealer hasn't returned my call...
Frodo
Definately changes volume as I think it goes too quiet when the car is idling at low revs. No display on the radio, etc
Chav
Well i thought i heard a volume adjustment? I did a couple of 0 to 60mph and back to 0 sprints on a country lane to test. But the adjustment, if any, was so subtle i think its just in my head
Frodo
Well I was "looking" for it in the S3 and never heard it, but the S-Line with Bose on the A4 defiantely changes volume to my ear, this would back up what is stated in the manual
Chav
Its not a huge difference if it is then. Mines BOSE etc too. I usually have the music loud. And was convinced it was getting slightly quieter when I slowed down. Anyway, I've turned it off again now...its officially pants in my book.
