wes25
Does anybody know where I can buy some chrome mirror housings for my A3. I have just bought a 3.2 S Line in Misano Red and these would finish it off a treat. Problem is, the dealer reckons about £800 from Audi fitted which seems a bit steep. Where can I get them online? Any help would be appreciated.
UBM
Try JBR Performance, www.vagparts.com or e-bay (buy in-pro mirror cases).
wes25
Thanks for your response. £61? Can that be right? Have you got these? Whats the quality like and are they easy to fit with all the electrics etc...?
UBM
No - these are simply the mirror cases, which replace the body coloured mirror cases. Still, easy enough to fit..They are polished chrome effect plastic....
wes25
I have seen some on VAG parts for £250 per pair. Do the old ones slide off fairly easily then or do they take a bit of fitting? Do they come with fitting instructions?
audislinedsg
I can help you with this as i have done it. the caps are the same as a s4 fitting which you can buy from a audi parts department they are quite costly at £450.00 per pair and fitting is easy , but you may crack the mirror like i did twice. i to had them on a missano red a3 3.2 looked the bizz good luck but its worth it
Cupramax
Genuine S4 ones are £250 plus VAT on VAGPARTS, dont pay dealer prices. They are identical to the InPro ones except they are made from aluminium and have a brushed finish....
wes25
Can you get brushed aluminium ones from in pro? Anyone got any pictures on thier cars?
Chav
[ QUOTE ] Can you get brushed aluminium ones from in pro? Anyone got any pictures on thier cars? [/ QUOTE ] I asked JBR performance if in-pro do brushed ones, and apparently they only do the chrome ones. I know there are adverts on ebay offering brushed in-pro ones for £20 more than the chrome ones. So its a tricky one. Until someones buys a pair of brushed in-pro ones off ebay and they arrive as described, I'll assume the options are chrome in-pro or brushed genuine vag ones. wes25
In which case, on a Misano red A3 3.2 S Line, do you reckon brushed or chrome? And are they likely to be stolen if they're easy to fit? Any opinions?

But there's been plenty of reports of chrome mirrors being stolen on S models for years. vandalism is the other potential risk, but it doesnt mean you can't go for it.... don't give in to the chavs! and park in safest places possible, which is always a wise thing to do anyway. I'm not an A3 man myself so not sure what existing chrome/brushed bits are on the exterior... you'd want them to match though.
Chrisg
It took me about 50 minutes to do the first side , carefully, and only 10 to do the other !
