TheReverend
Hi Fellas. I'm after a bit of shared knowledge. My S3 makes this incredibly irritating noise when I go slowly over speed bumps. Milton Keynes is full of them so I can't avoid it. It comes from the front LHS of the car and the noise sounds like a creaking door or moody bed spring (that's the best I can do to describe it, sorry!) I took it to Wayside who said it's the front roll bar, "they deteriorate over time on A2's A3's and TT's". That'll be £400.00 minimum. Have any of you had or heard of the same thing?. I don't trust dealers at the best of times Thanks for any advice.....
Booster
Yep it is the anti roll bar. Mine went on my old A3 1.8TQ. Noise is exactly as you describe - creaking. I had mine done under warranty but I'm sure that some people on here got away with just replacing the bushes and not the whole lot. I'm sure someone will be alnong shortly to clarify. Booster
Another A3! 2.0TFSi Quattro S-Line. Can't sleep for dreaming about the bloody thing!
Hopsta
Had the same problem with my S3, LH side ARB replaced under warranty
A3Floyd
Dont go and change the ARB! 95% of the time, it's just the bushes that need replacing at £3.50 each. Not sure how much labour would be but I managed to do mine myself. Audi told me that the ARB needed replacing but the AA said that they were talking rubbish. It seems to be a common 'con' with them. TheReverend
Now that's what I'm on about. I knew the stealers were trying it on. Anything to get under the bonnet @ £85.00 per hour. I might take it to a specialist and see what they have to say about the bushes. Heaven only knows how you managed to get them changed yourself though. My policy is to "pay a man!" Good work though! Cheers
TheReverend
Nice choice. You planning on some ECU fettling? You might as well test the quattro system..;-)

Hopsta
The fault with mine was diagnosed by AmD whilst having my porkers looked at (juddering), as it was under warranty I didnt care for the cost.

Cheers [/ QUOTE ] Not the easiest job, i must admit but like feck was i going to pay someone £200 in labour to change £7 worth of components. Back to cheap motoring these days! not spent a single penny on the Yaris to date and the bank account is looking so much healthier Still miss the S3 but hopefully I'll be rejoining the Audi club in about 6 months time
bneaves
I think i have the same thing, sounds like something is loose on the front LHS, something hollow, some days it is alot worse than others. Guess my description is pretty poor too
