R32North
Nah, take it bcak and get the right size! The 45 = 45% profile (wall height) of the width, eg 205 or 91.8mm You other tyres are 50% of 205 (102.5mm) in wall height, so you have a difference of 10.7mm or nearly 22m difference in diameter. Thats more than tread depth of 8mm. Thats a No No!! Normally its ok to change the tyres from one size to another so long as they are with 2.5% of the original size, but you should do this on all 4 tyres, not just one. Def take it back, and get them to fit the right size or take your business elsewhere. SDF
howardjpartridge
Fraid I'm not an expert (but you get what you get on TSN ; ) however I think that you might get away with this on a *pair* of tyres but to fit one that is 5% smaller than the other is going to end up winding up the diff. (If you have 4WD don't evemn think about fitting a pair as you'll wind up the centre diff.) Agree you shoudl go back, get it sorted and *then* take your business elsewhere. Munki
Your suspension should take care of any difference in the size of a wheel. But as Six Degrees says would take it back and get the same one fitted. At least because it will look silly if anyone looks at it.
R32North
The issue here is you running on one tyre that is a different size altogether. Your speedo reading is calibrated from your gearbox based on the rolling radius of your tyre, and so you have two different rolling radi, not good at all. Thats why the 2.5% allowance is advised, anymore and you'll either be going faster or slower than your speedo is indicating. Its pretty simple.... they correct size of tyre needs to be on the car!! rhyds
I did read somewhere about a person who had had different tyre sizes fitted on the same axle and this had messed up the ABS. I could be wrong tho...
Rustynuts
It would mess up the ESP (if it's fitted), as the ECU will see 2 different wheel speeds and try to adjust accordingly. Take it back to the garage who fitted it, tell them they've been twats and get it put right. There really is no need to fit incorrect tyres when you're a professional outfit! A call to your insurance company asking what cover you still have might prove interesting, aswell.
wtf
It's also an MOT failure to have different sizes on the same axle.
