Sinfield
The mystery surrounding the 'new for 2006' Formula One team, Team Dubai F1, was resolved today after the team made its long awaited press conference. Nothing had been heard from the team since the announcement in October of their plans to enter F1 in conjunction with McLaren, who would give technical assistance. Now it appears that the Dubai outfit will go it alone as they have made a major breakthrough that should give them a huge edge, they will be F1’s first invisible team. A team spokesman said ‘The reason nobody has seen anything of us is that we are completely invisible, from the Team Principal to the pit crew and to the car itself’ The teams boss, Sheik Mahand says that the crew have been training non stop for the 2006 season, especially for the tricky pit stops where the team cannot see the car coming and the driver can’t see the pit crew. Naturally, overtaking and blocking of Team Dubai's car, the TD1 (picture on the site) will be extremely difficult, giving it a huge on track advantage. Grand Prix Diary checked the FIA’s sporting regulations and found nothing to permit an invisible car, although General Safety Regulation 90, which says ‘Any driver intending to leave the track should signal his intention to do so clearly to other competitors and in good time’ could be the teams only stumbling block.
