willg60
hi, my electric ariel started making a bad noise like metal cogs grinding? It still goes up and down but only about half way then makes this noise! is it knackered? easy to replace?
Stuey
hi, mine will only go up and down with some extra help (ooer). I have been trying to get a 2nd hand one for ages but with no luck I have been quoted around £88 + vat from vagparts.com I'm starting to think about replacing it with a simple bee sting aerial. Unless it can be serviced?
carlos50
Do the electric ariels fit an S8 ?. Mine has the fixed type on the rear quarter and the electric one sounds nicer.£88 is a lot though so its just a thought at the moment.
Ska
£88 compared to £138 from the stealer...hmmm...I'd go for it! Unfortunately I've been told that the original audi unit is the only thing that fits the A8/S8 quater panel. How true that is I dont know cos it was the stealer who said it in the first place. Stuey
that £88 needs vat sticking on top of it, so that works out around £103.40, then theres the £8 postage to plonk on top. Does anyone know if the universal electric aerials will fit?
cruiser647
Hi, the ariel is made to fit an aluminium car. Soooooo you have to be careful, as you might start corrosion if you use a standard electric one with steel fittings.......... Hence the stealer can charge a lot. Be careful on this. msey
Hi there. I replaced my electrix ariel with a Hirschmann Electric one. Hirschmann make a range of ariels. The one that I fitted was £38 from EuroCarParts.com. Note sure on your model. Mine is a 97 4.2 QS. I kept the plastic bubble that the ariel fits through on the rear quater panel. This is the part that attaches to the outside panel. Hope this is of help. There should be an old post where i listed the part numbers.
