UBM
Drove the DM mobile for the first time today without my tuning box on. What a difference - talk about a donkey.....Looks like I'll be saving up for a digital one then...
Sparky
Thanks mate, for reminding me what my car is like. "A donkey".
UBM
Sorry - but it's true. I need my extra power back.
Sparky
Is it really noticeable then? Why not get a proper re-map? That's what I plan to do this year with mine.
UBM
Think I'll be joining you. Might follow darksides example - 180bhp!
Sparky
I'm not sure who to go for. AMD seems probably the best option as it's had most votes so far. Anyone else care to recommend one for TDI engines, or any words of caution?
UBM
I'll probably end up making the pilgrimage to Bicester too...

Durrsaku
Is the digital one a better one? if yes in what way? ta
UBM
OK - the analogue box which I had been enjoying so much for the past few months simply fixes onto the fuel temperature sender circuit, which over-rides the signal sent and supplies more fuel to the engine - hence it burns more and gives more power. The digital box works by re-mapping in real time the signal from the ECU and the fuel unit. It can be set on 7 different settings to give power, economy or torque. I think it is better in the long run, but neither are reported to adversely damage your engine.
Milo
DM - would you still fit a tuning box given that you thought the analogue one may have been causing some of the problems you had been having? I am quite keen to tweek mine in some way but worried about possible knock on effects.
UBM
Yes I would, as I think the problem was caused by me flooring it with my foot on the clutch/and/or a dodgy contact. I'd be more inclined to use a digital box as the analogue box is either on or off. The digital box has several different settings. But yes, I'd fit again!
