Markallain
With the MKIV Golf the 4WD models only had room for a space saver but all the 2WD drive models had space for a full size spare. Why is there only room for a spacesaver in the MKV GTI but this is 2WD?

shao_khan
[ QUOTE ] Easy weight saver on a car too [/ QUOTE ] On the 172 Clio Cup you can understand this, they dumped aircon, thinned out glass, bench seat in rear, lighter carpet, etc,etc - but on the Golf it is just tight, a spare wheel of a couple of Kgs isnt goign to make much difference to something lugging around 4ton anyway. AndrewEdward
Sorry guys for sounding a bit dumb here but what's all this about a space-saver? My GTi is on order, got to wait a while, like many of you i'm sure..
shao_khan
Well generally with a new acr you have 4 options with a Puncture: 1. Full size spare wheel 2. Space saver spare wheel - much smaller width than full size spare. 3. no spare wheel at all, but can of foam and compressor 4. RUn flat tyres and no spare anything. Ritey
Is it right to have your space saver wheel smaller in diameter SK? I've noticed that my ss is 13" where my wheels are 15", seemed odd to me
shao_khan
I have an A2 space saver which is I think a 15" wheel, but has a flat tyre which folds down and you have to inflate it before use. I can chuck it in the boot if you want to have a look at the next meet.
Ritey
No worries about the size have used it only once and always have the landy to run a wheel to a garage to save driving on it, was just wondering if you new whether it was correct or not to have a different sized ss
sw1
I purchased the full size 18" spare alloy for £170 when I ordered my car back on the 04/11/04. I thought this was worth it as an 18" tyre by itself cost a bomb
