grahamb
Noticed at the MOT last week that the plastic undertray has a lot of oil on it, and as I've never layed a spanner on the engine (always serviced by stealers) whats the most likely gasket to have gone? When I pull up at a junction I can smell burnt old oil. She's done 96K
Edd_W
the leaks can be caused by the vacuum assister becoming blocked up internally. It is a venturi device inbetween the rear of the LH head and the back of the inlet manifold. It has about three pipes connected, one onto each end and one smaller off the side. The hoses are crimped on so to test it you have to cut them off. There are one-way valves inside it so the air will only flow one-way. There is loads of info on this here http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/486032.phtml
