RossG
Okay, so there is someone in my flats who seems to be a small time car dealer, you know the banger for a few hundred quid sort of guy. He stores these cars in various spaces throughout the development, seemingly where ever there is an apparently empty space. One of the spaces he uses is next to one of ours and we have become used to various basic old cars sitting there. However, I came home the other day to see this sitting there. I somehow get the impression this may belong to the owner of the space, as it seems to be a bit beyond the usual auction tat. Any ideas? (Ovbiously, i kind of knew what it was - but was a bit surprised by its value - lets have a few guesses!!)

cruiser647
I think that is the famed Merc Pullman. Not sure if it has a 6.9 V8 (as the later ones did)
xspencex
Yup... its a 600 SEL 6.9 (NON pullman because its SWB) what a motor!!
RossG
Fairly scary looking thing isnt it? It has a flag holder on the wing. Wonder if it was a royal or diplomatic car in its time. Its absolutely immacualte. Here is a shot of the interior:
tainted_love
i think Jay Kay from Jamiroquai has one of these, looks like a 1960's Mercedes 600 limo
JamesB
If it is genuinely immaculate, I'd imagine it's worth quite a lot but I understand price is very dependent on condition. You could fit your Fabia on the back seat, couldn't you.
RossG
LOL - just about. It has real presence, I swear it growls at me every time I walk past it. Its kind of scary!! Can't imagine how cool it must be to cruise around in...
xspencex
If the devil had a motor.... he'd ride in one of these..
JamesB
So go on, how much does he value it at?
RossG
Reckon on somewhere between 40 and 80K, depending on its condition and history... I am going to make sure I have a proper chat with the guy when I next see him. Be properly nosey and find out if it has had any famous owners. Cool though, eh? tainted_love
came across this Benz 600 i think its the nearest thing, asking price around £20k
RossG
I stand corrected then. Still a lot of money for an old merc. I will ask the owner precisley what he thinks it is worth next time I see him...
JamesB
Or you could just spend a little bit more for the Pullman

RossG
That is an awful lot of money... I wonder why this one is in a random garage in Glasgow. Strange how these old things 'pop up'. A cold damp garage in Glasgow at that...Not the best place to store an old car - main road right ouside, so road spray comes right in through the metal walls, and it is truly, horribly cold in there. 0.5 degrees inside it this morning... JamesB
I really should have spent a little more time and linked to this one . Now that is a lot of money for a car.
RossG
WOW. There isn't really anything else to say about that is there? Would be a bit of a laugh if I had all of the money in the world, but otherwise I wouldnt bother. Its a bit like that E36 M3 on ebay that Beckham owned - that wnet for some crazy sum - and for no good reason. My car was owned by me - that's all that really dings my dong!!! xspencex
If I buy your car off you ross then I'll be wanting a discount seeing as you ding your dong in it...

CarMad
Isn't this the one where everything is hydraulic and not electric. JK said everything was silent and increadably expensive to get parts for. If its the same car.
