Blimey - we had quite a bit of snow last night round these parts - left the house to search for my VXT - found it !

after a bit of clearing I was ready to give driving a go !!!

as you can see my first attempts to get down the road were a bit hit and miss - the trick certainly very easy on the throttle and same on the brake. It took nothing to get the fronts to lock or the rears to spin !!

Luckily this was only for the first couple of roads until I got to the main roads which, on the whole, were well gritted.

However, some people were not quite so lucky - here's an SLK that was being recovered - well smashed up even at roof line ! The owner was with teh recovery guy looking very sheepish...

A couple of miles down the road, this 3 series had decided to make friends with the ditch !! not a mark on it front or back, just nicely placed in the ditch - perhaps a case of RWD and not enough care ??

What a morning - approx 90 mins to get 20 miles !

Goes to show we are just not geared up for winter driving.

People think are mad to drive without snow tyres in winter, but we can't always guarantee that its going to snow.

However people do go far to fast for the conditions and don't respect that the road can bite. Also some peoples caution can be the cause of accidents as people try to pass because they are going so slow.

Good photos !!

cheers ! I saw so many 'nearly' crashes along the same stretch of road it was like everyone was hypnotised by the snow and in a little dream world of their own.... The traffic was terrible but once I turned off at Ascot, heading to Maidenhead, all was pretty clear. I did consider staying at home and doing donuts in the carpark behind my flat !!

Or a lot of luck!!

No I know where you are coming from but now I am past 30 with children and not the only one that drives the car I have the best of both worlds. A car that is safe and I can give my partner when conditions are bad. But also has enough power and grace to be fun.

You're absolutley right, no way would I let Lady T nick the keys in this weather ! I'm not sure she'd want to drive it at the moment anyway. It's certainly an early mid-life crisis car - everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to get something sensible.... with weather like this, it won't be too long !
