Herfordshire Meet - Gauging interest

Chaps and Chapesses

We now have a few more Tyresmokers who have their location as Herts.

Now would you all be interested in meeting up sometime ?

No date yet, just, as the title suggests, gauging interest.

Now I'm not too good at pubs as I don't get any time to spend in them these days. My old local near home in Digswell burned down a few years ago (no it was not me), but it would have been ideal. So :

1, Please let me know if you are interested

2, Any suggestions as to where. Remember we'll need a good car park, so I would probably suggest Hertford maybe out - except The Barge, but I've not been there in years.

Not sure if I can make it Digswell its about 3 miles from me! A Herts meet is a great idea, its nice and easy to get to from alot of motorways. As you say Hertord has alot of pubs but no large car parks. Stevenage is a bit unsuitable, The Sun Inn in Lemsford is a nice pub cant remember the carpark being that big though, what about the Crooked Chimney on the road to Wheathampstead?

Stevenage, 'nuff said....

The Sun in Lemsford, OK, been there once

Crooked Chimney, yes possible, easy to get to(A1 and M25 close). And the road to Wheathampstead is OK too....

Anyone from the Cuffley / North Potters Bar area - never been down there except to go to GT towing...

Welwyn was my old haunt when I was at school (Monks Walk for anyone really local). Grew up in Digswell - Just remembered, the Cowper Arms now has a very good rep. (I think you have to book to eat that could cause us problems - I'll ask mum and dad who live just up the hill) The Cowper is right next to Welwyn North Station.

You lazy sods !! Windsor isn't exactly a million miles away from Herts. Some of us travel (When not busy/ill) from the other side of the M25 (essex/kent) to go to Windsor.

Pull ya fingers out

Hopsta is right, Windsor is not far away at all from 'Herts' - crikey, we all have cars, lets use 'em !

Simon, why have you never made it to windsor - it's takes me 90 minutes from Colchester in North Essex at peak rush hour, so it can only take you boys some 45 minutes max.

As Graham said PULL YER FINGER OUT................

Lets go for a Hertsmeet! Windsor and Chelmsford are both quite a way. I reckon it would take me 2h to get to Windsor after work from Cambridge - argggh!

C'mon diesel, you big girls blouse - it's 2 hours once a month..................

Look upon it as an adventure, anyway it will only cost you tuppence as you drive a soot chucker.....

and that's why I said it depends where it is. I already do a couple of meets a month and if I was to go to this it would be an additional one. I therefore don't intend to spend hours driving to it.

If all the people are so keen on driving why don't they do to the Northern meets? ;-)

The reason I put up the possibilty of a Herts meet was because I do have trouble getting to the others because of time. I work in london and get home around 19:30 (or when early I pick the kids up and so have to wait till Alison gets home around 19:00) so I'd never get to Windsor before 21:00....

So, that is why I'd like to see if a Herts meet is a goer. I'd avoid the same week as Windsor or MK.

Looks like this is a possible anyway - Fatcat, you cheeky fecker ,<smirk smiley>

With Hopsta and Fatcat here, sorry! MK is just up the road and Windsor just down the road. First and last Wednesdays' of the month respectively. Doesn't matter how late you are or what you drive.
