monkeyboy
This is the story, A6 2.5tdi 140 Quattro, 121K miles AEL engine code, lumpy/smokey starting fom cold ok once warm. Under full throttle once it has reached around 3000rpm it falls completely flat and refuses to go past this. If the revs are then allowed to go back to idle it will then pull cleanly to the red line. This is particularly frustrating when overtaking because I never know when it will happen! Could it be air mass meter? (£412 from Audi!!!!) or perhaps leaks in turbo pipework???Can air mass meter be cleaned? - German & Swedish don't list one. Any ideas would be appreciated + anyone know where I can buy an air mass meter apart from Audi for this car??
Smiddy
Sounds like you need a new MAF, i had the same sort of problem on my old car, bad power loss and the car wouldnt go above 3000 rpm, but your problem doesnt sound like its just the MAF, could be worth posting this in audi tech.
