english68
On a wet day, bumpy country roads with puddles, does anyone else suffer with banging noises under the floor and what sounds like a blown exhaust? It seems to happen only once hot. Does the exhaust expand at different rates? (I've seen mention elsewhere of the exhaust getting longer when hot). It sounds horrendous but goes away as soon as things cool off or dry out. VW garage found no fault (hardly surprising!) but my 9yr old daughter has heard it! Your advice gentlemen/ladies please! R32North
I've got a knocking noise under the drivers seat. Its only there when I chuck the car about and I thought it was the exhaust or something........ turns out the seat bracket is loose, and so when car goes in for service (whenever that is) I'll get them to look at it. Have you tried rocking the seat diagonally, this is hw I found my noise.
rich63
I had the same problem last year, went on holiday to the lakes, every time I went through a big puddle of water the noises came back, sounded like the exhaust pipe was hanging loose, found out that the pressure of the water had distorted the drain plug and ripped the plastic near side inner arch out of it's fixing hole and was catching on the tyre, it was the fixing nearest to the side skirt, check it out .........might be the same problem. english68
Thanks for the suggestions - unfortunately we still cannot find where this noise is coming from!??
Langers555
There have been several threads on VW Vortex about this. Basically all your technical questions should be asked on Vortex, there's a much larger knowledge base there than there is here (except of course with regards to the 6463 update and other Euro spec quirks)
