Drillslinger
OK, in an attempt to get an actual conversation going in this forum, I've decided to ask this: Do you think the new Polo chassis will receive the "GTI" treatment? If so, what would you like to see in it, ie engine/performance, so on and so forth. YES, I too am bored
shao_khan
Yes it will, there are plenty rumours incuding the 1.8T and a v4 unit that was supposed to have made an appearence in the Lupo RS. This i think is dependent upon the hot hatch market not taking a down turn again.
Drillslinger
WAS?!?! V4? Where'd ya hear that? It would be pretty damned small then, eh? Although, the 1.8T would have some SERIOUS potentail in a little Polo
shao_khan
THe lupo RS was put around by various mtoring mags a year or so ago, there was some stuff on the lupo forum about it (www.lupogti.com), but it was really all hearsay I guess - V4, 4wd Lupo, makes plenty room for turbos and stuff. The Polo would need at least 180bhp to even be considered seriously in the market at the moment, i think anything left and magazines will slate it and kids wont touch it. Drillslinger
I dunno, I figure the base, 150 1.8T would work out pretty good. It would have good performance (esp. moving up from the 125 of the last one) and it would still leave a gaggle of tuning options for those with the cash to go all out. So it would appeal to a broader customer base. As well as keeping the tried and true engine in the VW stable.

Drillslinger
Nice, wonder which'd be quicker, the S3 engine or the VR6? I'd say S3
shao_khan
THe VR6 Lupo is likely to be at GTi International, there may be a 1.8T one there also.
