MK5 GT TDI Info prleease

Recommended Posts

I've just got a MK5 GT TDI ... previously had a MK4 GTTDI 130, with the 130 there was bucket loads of info, forums, posts, info etc etc but I can find bugger all for the MK5 ... can someone point me in the right direction here or otherwise.

By the way... I read someone on another post moaning that the MK4 is better than the MK5 .. get a grip!!! as someone who's had both, back to back, the mk5 is one of the best handling cars I've driven out of the box and standard (certainly best sub 20k diesel), including fairly recently a 325 beemer with sports kit. The engine is also smooth and easy to drive at any speed not like the 4 which was a punch in the back (which is quite fun actually). The standard kit is pretty good and you can get it for 15999inc from just about every car supermarket and I'm sure you'd beat that if you hunted around. The only thing it's missing is a bloody armrest !!!! what idiot decided that height adjusting passenger seats was a better investment !!!!

If you have any questions regarding the TDI MK5 let me know....

I've not tried the GTI but if my TDI is anything to go by it'll be pretty good. In fact next time mine's in for a service ......

Anyways cheers for reading my rant, let me know if you can recomeend sites forums etc !!!

Anything really, you know problems, where you can get bits, tuning etc etc.

Currently I want to get myself so s****y car mats, anyone know where I can get a set ... don't say vw as they cost a fortune and aren't that high quality. I've seen some on Ebay but they look a bit cheapo as well !

There was a discussion on mats recently on one of the beetle forums and a lot of people with the VW versions seemed to have lasted longer than some of the aftermarket ones.

There is a company called justmatz (www.justmatz.co.uk) who do quite a wide range - I know people that have had some and raved about them, but another guy had a set and they wore really quickly. The guy that runs that is a MK4 owner.

As for Tuning, well loads of body kits available, the one I like best is the caracterre kit (see www.rsdcars-uk.co.uk) looks really good in the flesh and several VW dealers have demo cars with it fitted so you can go and see one in the flesh.

VW Racing will soon be offering tuning options for the 2.0TDi, pretty much same stuff that goes witht he track car in the way of remap and exhausts etc.
