debrennan79
Hi folks I had my dealer on the phone yesterday asking me whether I wanted them to treat my new cars paintwork and upholstery before I pick it up next week. The cost is £300 and they have assured me it is worth getting done (surprise surprise). However, my arguement is that I will only be driving the car at weekends and it is garaged all the time. The question therefore is do I really need the treatment (for the car!). I would appreciate any comments/experiences anyone has on this matter. Colin M
Waste of money, which is exactly why the dealer wants to sell you £20 worth of materials for £300. The manufacturers test the paint and interior to be durable in all sorts of conditions. To keep your car looking nice, there is no short cut to the hours of spit and polish you'll need. Use a quality brand and you car will look as good as new. Tell the stealer to stick his treatment up his armafend.
debrennan79
Thanks for that Colin M- just what I hoped to hear to be honest! If like me one enjoys washing and polishing their car I see no need for a 'special' paint treatment anyway. Only 7 days to go before delivery! Simonl
Ask him what treatments... no doubt a can of scotch guard and a bottle of Autoglym, both applied by the trainee spanner monkey.
debrennan79
Ha, ha- I Think you have hit the nail on the head there. I think I will be telling the 'stealer' he can keep his special treatment and I will keep my £300.
kam
Hey Davey I Had it done on my Merc a few years ago I can tell you it`s an absolute load of shite makes no difference to the look of the paintwork whatsoever. The stealer offered me the same load of cr@p on my new A3 S-Line with Silver Speed Cloth for £250.00 inside and out I told him where he could put his scotchguard and that my £250.00 would be staying in my pocket. In my view your much better off getting your car valeted once a year.
debrennan79
Thanks for that Kam- I think it's their way of squeezing the last few pounds out of you when they think you are excited and emotional about the car and will therefore make rash decisions! ChrisR32
We have a 4 year old Mizano Red RS4 Supaguarded and the paintwork still looks as good as the day it was new. When it rains you can almost see the rain washing any dirt off the car. I've had all of my recent motors Supaguarded inside and out - but my Sportback was done for free, so can't really complain too much!
