bearra
Guys been sat here reading through all my correspodence regarding my rejection and I can see it going on for some time. So I'm seriously tempted to part-ex, cut my losses as best I can and move on. Just trying to think of ways to reduce my losses on all the extras I have and reduce the cost of a new one. So; Do 18" 9 spokes make a big difference to trade in value? If not would it make sense to buy a set of 17" 5 spokes off ebay and hold on to the 18's? That way I guess I would have a spare set of 17's I could sell or keep as spares. The SatNav+ adds a premium on second hand S4's but trade in wise I would guess it is only worth say £500, that nearly £1500 loss? Would it be worth buying a symphony, don't know how much you can get them for? Then having a specialist swap them over for say £150? Any ideas what else I could hold on to and not have to spec on a new one? cheers
Chav
[ QUOTE ] Do 18" 9 spokes make a big difference to trade in value? [/ QUOTE ] probably adds a few hundred. but you dont want to be spending money speculatively on 17" wheels etc. good quality replica wheels are in abundance now which affects the price of genuine ones as with many you cannot tell the difference. [/ QUOTE ] if your gonna buy another 2004 or later cab, then doing that could save some cash. symphonys are about £250-300 on ebay usually... make sure you get the correct one though as sometimes theyre advertised as being for the A4/A4 cab, when its actually an A6 part. (fascias are slightly different size on all models) [ QUOTE ] Any ideas what else I could hold on to and not have to spec on a new one? [/ QUOTE ] nope. unless your desperate to keep the coolbox? The sensible way to minimise cost to transfer would be to find another one thats over a year old.
bearra
Cheers Chav Agree on wheels just been looking on ebay £575 with tyres for the 5 spokes replicas, that's cheaper than £800+ option for 18"s and I would have a spare set of alloys. Just been looking around at 2004 S4's and 3.0Q's, was thinking exactly the same but finding a tiptronic with the right extras for a decent price seems a nightmare. Nearly new prices! Saying that it looks like I need to find at least £5K . Seen a few manual S4's for reasonable money but they've only got leather/alcantara which I'm not keen on, seems to be a lot of fully spec'd and basic S4's but nothing inbetween. Was thinking maybe I could swap the wood veneer for the standard plastic for not too much maybe?

[/ QUOTE ] i dont think its worth it. a lot of 3.0's have wood anyway, and the aluminium stuff is standard on the S4, and you wouldnt want wood in that. parts for trim can be expensive. not sure what the price of the cheapest trim is though. UBM
I got one dealer to agree to take one set of wheels off and put my 18's on - but didn't buy in the end. It's a good negotiating item! Don't think the symphony makes much difference! If you're really hacked off, I'd go for it, but like chav says, you get more for your money if it's 1-2 years old! Believe me, I've spent ages eyeing up the options!

[/ QUOTE ] Hi Berra Have you owned Alcantara? I really like mine, find it far preferable to full leather. Cool in summer warm in winter and super grippy. I like its look too. I've been watching the used S4 as well and quite agree, it's very difficult to find one with a nice spec at sensible money. For me the colour choice is a really major problem as well. Most of the basic cars are sprint blue or brill red and I can't get my head around either. Just about given up TBH, good job I'm well please with the 3.0. hashluck
Alacantara is the best in my opinion but I have yet to get a car with it as my dealer keeps warning me regarding resale value, he reckons leather and colour are the two most important factors on the S4. If there had been an Alcantara S4 in Black when I was looking I would have got it (esecially if I could have negotiated the price down). S4s with NAV etc. seem to all be £40K+, 'basic' S4s (and let's face it they are not that basic, just add heated seats and they have everything else you actually NEED) are from £35K up. Cheaper ones are Sprint Blue and Red which, again, my dealer reckons worth £1-£2K less. So if you actually like the S4 in Sprint Blue or Red and Alcantara you can bag yourself a bargain. Silver didn't work for me, the green and moro blue options pretty rare and not for me, left me with just one choice - black - all of which happened to have full leather but again if alcantara would have not been an issue at all for me. Chav
If you buy an S4 you HAVE to have the nappa leather with piping. Its gorgeous. everything else is pants in comparison. The leather is softer, smoother and would definitely be a contributing factor if i decided to spend another few grand a year on petrol
Chav
In fact Daz has pics of his S4 cab interior in the gallery i think. Look at them, then tell me you still want alacantara

DHA
Gone for alcantara in my S4. Fancied it for a while and it will be something different too.

vernan
I had silver nappa in the TT, alcantara in the S4. I much prefer the alcantara, even though I wouldn't have chosen it before.

bearra
Cheers guys I understand all your thoughts on Alcantara but I'm still not convinced, main reason being my dogs. It's so easy to clean up dog hair and slobber off leather, I don't think alcanatara would be so easy but I don't know to be honest. Agree on the red and sprint blue S4's and I agree they are not colours I would choose. There is no amount of convincing that would get me to buy another red car, no chance. Ideally I want Dolphin grey but haven't seen one yet. Then I say to myself hey I bought the car I have new why should I swap for second hand. So maybe new 3.0Q is the way to go (i want quattro coz my drive is a long 25 degree incline which I had real trouble getting up yesterday in the snow). Or maybe I should just put up and wait to see what happens with my rejection. Either way I never thought I would say this but I'm feeling exactly what GCab did with his TDi, BAD handling and too heavy, plus the last few weeks cold mornings have been noisy to say the least. Taking 20 minutes driving to get upto temperature! Has anyone ever part-ex'd before they've finished an Audi finance agreement, just wondering what the penalties are? Daz
[ QUOTE ] Ideally I want Dolphin grey but haven't seen one yet [/ QUOTE ] I nearly bought a Dolphin grey S4 Avant that Poole Audi had, I think they sold it recently. It did look very nice though. If you've got dogs, then I guess full leather would be the better option.
DHA
If you have a dog then alcantara is a definate no no as you have said. I had troubles with my Boxster and in effect returned it during a finance agreement. They gave a trade value and the finance co gave their usual 2 months interest penalty for early repayment. Not sure how Audi would play it but possibly the same. Good luck!
Chav
[ QUOTE ] Has anyone ever part-ex'd before they've finished an Audi finance agreement, just wondering what the penalties are? [/ QUOTE ] Have done that several times. The penalty is usually just a couple of months interest. Audi finance seem quite efficient, although they took an extra payment which i had to claim back after my last exchange.
bearra
2 months interest, that's nothing really is it, gonna have a scan through my agreement and attempt working it out. Think Dolphin or Atlas definitely the colour I want next with red or Anis leather, mines a bit plain Jane silver/black. Has anyone seen the metallic green on an S4, it used to be really popular on the 80 cab?
Chav
just ring up audi finance and get a settlement quote. they'll tell you when the quote is valid until (depends on what day of the month you pay etc) then you'll know what trade-in value you want etc, to pay off the old finance. the new finance will always be a new agreement anyway, so its handy to know your current settlement figure
bearra
Only problem I have there Chav is Audi finance are in the rejection negotiations and I don't want them to see this as an easy way out until I've decided what to do. Apparantly if the dealer won't take it back I can give it back to them as they are just as liable. Boo
