YiamCross
Today I got a funny warning symbol appear on the dash- MPH with a circle around it. I couldn't even begin to guess what the symbol meant. The quick ref guide on the useful links page tells me it's a speed warning but gives no clue as to what it's trying to warn me about. I can only imagine, as I was going quite slowly, that I was becoming a bit of an embarassment to the A8 world and should put my foot down pronto. So I did. The search for a manual goes on. AnArtist1
There are 2 speed warnings, one you set with the key out of the ignition and one you set on the move (by pressing the Check button) I think?! Mine's set to 70mph and it beeps pretty quickly these days!
Ska
Its a warining that you're exceeding the preogrammed speed that someone prior to you has set, just reset it and program in another with the check button on the left of your instrument cluster. hold it down to clear it or set a new speed whilst driving at the desired speed then press 'check'. Ahh youy beat me to it and it was an easy one as well, Doh!

Ska
probably right... well theres no point in setting it below a ton cos its so easy to do that sort of speed!
YiamCross
[ QUOTE ] There are 2 speed warnings, one you set with the key out of the ignition [/ QUOTE ] I'm trying to get my head around setting the speed with key out of the igniion. Maybe if you're unfortunate enough to have driven over a cliff there could be enough time to switch off, take the key out, press the check button and.. I thought the check button ran through all the system checks, I was trying to find a way to cancel the damned beeping from a low washer bottle warning. No luck so far, I may have to top it up soon. Cheers for your help, though, guys.

crasher
I made this mistake when playing around whilst moving. If you press the check button whilst in motion it will set the second speed warning to what ever speed you were doing at the time. When I did it it was around 30mph. Turned out to be most annoying. Fortunately it clears when you turn off and remove the key

Is it just to warn you if the car starts moving, say if you were having a kip and didn't want to get a wake up call if the car starts to roll off down a hill? I have sussed out that I pressed the check button while moving, which set speed alarm 1. When I press the check button with the car stationary it just scrolls through all the system checks, maybe even performing the checks, each symbol coming up in turn on the dash info panel. This is what I was trying to do to cancel the damned beeping of the low washer level warning but the check button works differently when moving. So it would seem. The search for a manual goes on. Botang
From memory it sets the speed alarm at the speed limit in the country in our case 70. I may be wrong though.

Beer could easily be involved in this one. Cheers.
