davox
When I started my car (1998 A3 Tdi) this morning, my ABS light came on and stayed on. After about 5 minutes, I stopped for some fuel and when I restarted the car, the ABS light was out. Has been OK for the rest of the day. Any idea of what could cause this ? Paul
probably a fault logged in ECU, that would explain further.
Tomk
did you have your foot on the pedal as you started the car? or started it down a hill or somethign ?
stratty31
probably your battery getting weak, and the abs control unit saw a low voltage on start up..i wouldn't worry too much at this stage..keep an eye on it
davox
Thanks for the replies. The car was parked in my garage, so would have been level. Not sure about touching the brake pedal ..... don't think that I was. Could this cause a problem ? Good point about the battery. The car still has the original battery (approaching 7 years old). I used the car several times today and had no problems with the ABS light. How much would a dealer charge to read out the fault codes ?
dq1
Probably more than it would cost you to get a cable off ebay and the Vag-com software from Ross Tech. Providing you have a laptop that is
Sach1984
Had the same problem on my car just a few months off. Just removed each wheel sensor and applied a little contact cleaner/fluid. Worked a treat!!
