mulkbear
I work for a dealer as a tech. If you buy a new Gti and the dealer said it has been delayed the car may have been dropped. There has been a number of cases of the Rear axle of the car being damaged by the car slipping off the transporter becose of the larger wheels. These car are repaired and givin to the customers 'but the customers are not told' but the car goes on record as been damaged. Please inspect the rear end of your new car for signs of damage or repair before the car is handed over to you.
FiftyPence
[ QUOTE ] I work for a dealer as a tech. [/ QUOTE ] not for much longer if VW found out. Its nice to know there are techies looking out for us VW buyers
sophiem
Can they do that? surely the customer has to be told if any repairs have been made before purchase?
DaddyDub
Nope not so. Any manufacturer can fix a product prior to a customer owning it without their knowledge but the repairs have to bring the product back to an acceptable standard. Big Brother watching you Mulkbear? sophiem
Thats so bad - its crap that they can get away with that, is it still the case if its been ordered and paid for before the damage was done?
R32North
Can confirm this, in a way. I had the scratch on my door repaired by Campbells in Kincardine (top job as well!!!) and he told me that he gets cars from VW in Stirling to do when the get damaged in transit before getting delivered to the customer.... and customer is none the wiser. This was reassuring to me that a) he did a good job, and b) he worked on VWs to VW spec. Not so good news for the owner who gets a repaired car and doesn't know it! DaddyDub
But if it's done to and "acceptable level" what difference does it make? It's the repaires from the factories you need to worry about, my mate bought a Vauxhall Astra (Idiot!) and they repaired it at the factory after a small crash and the repair was appaling and they wouldn't admit to it being their fault, even thought they crashed it!? FiftyPence
hehe i can imagine some nipper on the production line being told to 'just move that car of the conveyor and park it over there' And after a smash, tinkle tink the car is fecked and the nippers boss gives him an ear bashing. mulkbear
I once opened the door on a "brand new W8 passat" into a ramp post and the company just sent it to the bodyshop and did'nt tell the customer who picked up his new car two days later. I got a shouting at for it
FiftyPence
now this is the reason why im so worried about taking my R32 to the local dealer for her service cos some little sh1te will probably take her for a test drive to 'make sure everything is working fine' and rag the t1ts off her . maybe ill have to get a remap which lets me put the car in valet mode so it cant be driven hard
