nbritt
Just got my A4 2.0T yesterday and need some advice. Spoke to AMD auto tuning re:chipping, they quoted £850 exl VAT. Spoke to Superchips they quoted £435 and both chips provide similar performance improvements. Is one product better than the other? Superchips told me that their product is untraceable therefore my insurance company doesnt need to know. What would you advise? They also told me that they provide a warranty should there be any problems due to the chipping. Does anyone have a car that has been chipped? If so what are you doing re: insurance and warranty? UBM
I would always inform my insurance! If you don't, you're possibly in for a rough ride should anything happen...
gizze
I would call the insurance and ask what premium you are going to pay. I was with Tesco and on the S-line A3 adding 40bhp was going to cost me £120 a year, and Tesco are one of the worst for mods.
Chrisg
Yep, sort out the insurance first. RSD are uk agents for Oettinger - who warranty their work. In Germany they are Audi Partners ( means that they can service/do warranty work etc) and I believe that is the same here now, RSD are acknowledged by Audi UK as Partners -- must get confirmation from RSD - it would sway my shall I shan't I!! Ben
MTM also do a 272BHP conversion for the 2.0T, which is nice. http://www.qstuning.com/list_for_car.asp?car=A3%20Sportback%202.0TFSI
BenjaminTDI
I wouldn't recommend you get a superchips chip. My friend had his car done there and he said it's bloody awful, all the power kicks in at once. I'd go for AmD, or Upsolute (Upsolute are quite cheap, and pretty good) www.upsolute.com
shao_khan
A lot of the Superchips tuning was doen with cars from VW, but as said above all chips will delivery power / torque differently and some you will like others you wouldnt. As mentioned by Chris above I would give RSD a call, details at www.rsdcars-uk.co.uk as they now do a lot of work with both Audi and VW uk.
