Jennifer
I am about to order a new golf GTI but I am delerating over the colour. Its between Black or metallic. Is the extra money worth it?
Chav
personal preference. i chose brilliant black on my car because my previous one was metallic black, and that seemed more like "charcoal" coloured than "pitch black"
Simonl
it is more charcol, but better for resale IMO. There's more lacquer on a metalic car too, just bear that in mind for scuffs etc
Jennifer
Sorry for being a bit dim, metallic paint, more laquer a good or a bad thing for scratches? not that I am going to scratch it!

Jennifer
Not sure I want to answer that, you are probably only after me for my forth coming Car. By the way my Bloke is buying it, just helping to chose a colour. Got to make sure I get the right one so I can have all the blokes looking at me while I'm driving it! CRJ_1
I went for the metallic/pearl - IMHO it looks better - check out my gallery, may help you decide http://www.tyresmoke.net/gallery/albuv12
CRJ_1
BTW if you need a car to get the blokes to look at you does that answer the fit question???
malagus
I would go for white pearl myself, but if its black you want, then go for real black, as a matallic isn't really black. My dad runs a paint shop and is an awesome sprayer, and in his pro opp, The new clearcoats, and nanoparticle paints used by VAG dictate that there is little difference between the two finishes. Both should be high resistance, but they are dipped, so there is little difference my dear. If you want black, then have black, if you want grey, buy gray. If you want something cool, buy white. shao_khan
I have had flat and met black cars before and would have met black again (providing someone was giving it to me - wouldnt buy one) - the met black seemed to show marks less than the flat black. sophiem
Jet black every time - metallic is just too girly, if you want your motor to look decent, proper black is the way to go. Soph
