Sparky
Okay, so a lot of us on here don't like the new shape A4 in some manner, but over the last few days I've seen loads of them. They all appear to be the 2.0 T FSi and have seen them in moro blue, black, Primer #5934, and Dolphin grey. And I have to say.... I like them now. Looking at the rear light clusters, I used to hate how they'd made them a little smaller and an odd shape. I also disliked the new nose. I thought it suited the A6 and A8's - and even the A3, but somehow it didn't look right on the A4. Having seen loads driving around recently I have changed my mind. Even to the point of thinking of a change to a 2.0T FSi. Has anyone else started to like them? I think perhaps the darker colours have helped and looking at pictures of them on the net doesn't do them that much justice. Apart from this one though - I think this looks nice! (excuse the image quality. Phone isn't that good!) Am I alone with these views then? Should I keep on to my B6 A4 (less than 6 months old!) rjgreen4
I have an FSI Quattro, not quite my 3.2 A3 but it fit a couple of boddies in the boot and with space for the newly arrived pram. The performance is ok providing you keep your right foot down long enough and the mpg is far better than the A3. Long term plans are to get the S4 sometime next year or when I become a director of the firm splash out on an RS4. Will be complete then
UBM
Yes and No! I've seen poo loads too as well - common! I think they look cheap. Still hardly see any gmbh sports - in a way i wish i'd kept mine now. Don't be swayed by fashion - I guess you wrote this after coming in off the lash and will regret it tomorrow! a4tdi130
I still don't like them Only the new A8 looks "ok", but for that money I would never have one. I drive past the local Audi garage atleast 2 or 3 times a week and the cars don't catch my eye at all. On the other hand I drive past Jaguar, Mercedes and BMW and they all look so much classier. I know Audi is meant to be all about subtleness and style - so why stick that big fat god damn ugly nose on the cars??
Sparky
I think the problem that I had for a while was that having the GmbH body kit on mine, meant looking at the new A4's, I found them bland. Their idea of a boot lip spoiler was just way too small. My mind is changing almost as fast as a woman's mind here. I've already been pricing on up - so far: 2.0T FSI S Line 4dr Multitronic Options: Styling pack including 18 inch 5 arm alloy wheels Or 17 inch 5 parallel twin spoke design alloy wheels), Interior light pack, Drivers information system, Tyre pressure monitor, Acoustic parking system - rear, Black headlining, Auto dim rear view mirror with light/rain sensors, No rear model inscription, Xenon plus headlights + auto range adjustment For £24,654.98 I just think that seeing these new A4's with the darker colours have helped change my mind. I found several of the cars sporting the new nose to look quite meanacing (which mine does) and I like this.

Sparky
[ QUOTE ] Mercedes and BMW and they all look so much classier. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree here. I think BMW's look awful these days. Bangle has taken a perfectly good design - and trashed it. I think they look awful. I like the out going design better. Merc - I've always looked at these as sofas with wheels. They have no handling that you'd write home about and I think (excluding the nice 2-seaters) they look boring. Guess it's a personal thing though. An A8 always catches my eye! I figure I can displace more soot quicker with the higher engine???
UBM
Sparky - the reason i got rid of mine was the b7 came out. It's probably a good time to trade....
Sparky
I'm too late. The B7 is already out and deliveries have started. Didn't you swap before this?
yen77
i quite like my A4 apart from some really niggly rattles. the headrests seem to rattle from where the 2 metal pins are fixed into the plastic mounts within the headrest itself. also, lately i have discovered another rattle, which i have only managed to pinpoint recently. coming from the steering wheel/column. the rattle stops when i apply weight to the wheel. i think it's something to do with the adjusting mechanism of the steering wheel. otherwise, it's okay. begging to feel a little sluggish or so i thought, but when i took out the ttR (which is the 150) the other day, i realised i must have been getting used to the power, as the tt is nowhere near as smooth and powered as the a4. i was overheard commenting to the missus -> the tt is a fun car to whizz around in, but the a4 drives like a more mature car. however, i don't quite like the non-s-line version. also, the b6 avant is a lot more stylish and beefy compared to the b7 avant. only the saloon looks okay.. still doesn't quite compare to the a6 in appearance though, but a compromise has to be accepted in all decisions! [/ QUOTE ] That is exactly the rattle I started getting a couple of months ago after 2 years of rattle-free motoring. It sounds like 2 bits of plastic rubbing together. It tends to come and go and at the moment it's OK. It really winds me up though.
br4D
U have gr8 taste my parents r getting a new a4 s line saloon quattro and it looks stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
brownswood
the new b7 look amazing with the sline styling and in black - avant or saloon but thats a) because they all look new right now b) they look classy & set off well against the trims colours etc i think all in all they are a good car, but i wouldn't buy a new A4 again because of the revision as im not over awed by the exterior and the interior is exactly the same! shark_90
I must say I prefer the B6 for exterior styling, although any B6's with small wheels look "wanting" if you ask me. The B7 is growing on me, but there's no way I'd trade a B6 for a B7 (particularly if it's 6 months old) and even if I did have a few grand in the bank doing nothing. Sparky
My worry is losing even more money due to the "new" shape. I thought it was just a gap filler until the B8 is out, but I guess waiting for the B8 will be some time! I'm not saying I prefer the B7 over mine, but rather that I'd have no problems in having one if if I was to upgrade it for example. I really didn' like the look of them and knowing that I'm only keeping mine for 3 years, thought it would mean I'd no longer be buying an A4 when renewal time came. I think if that renewal time was around the corner, I don't have a problem with them now - but I'd not go for brill Red like I have now - it just doesn't look right with that new nose. Sounds like there are still only a handful of supporters here for the B7!

[/ QUOTE ] Here! Here! - BEEFY..... That's a great choice of term The B7 even with S-Line spec still looks a little lame. I especially don't like the way the rear bumper is one colour and doesn't have the black insert Was at the dealers in the week , they had a pretty well loaded New A6 Avant in the showroom - Black , Grey leather 3.0 TDi Quattro - STUNNING CAR
Phantom
Have to agree with you there, I saw a metallic grey A6 avant with S-Line pack and it looked the business. This was re-inforced by my girlfriend saying she liked the car after seeing it in the TV advert this morning. I think if I was after an estate I would give serious consideration to a new A6 avant over a B7 avant. Just my opinion
gizze
Definitely, an S-Line A6 was parked outside our place this morning in black, and it looked stunning!
pablos4
I think the disappointing thing with the B7 is to think what it 'could' have been. The B6 with the 'S' / 'S-Line' kit looked/still looks superb. The B6 S4 was barely 2 years old, and the gmbh s-line 12 months?? Audi were right to give it a bit of a freshen up, but when the concensus is 'it looks good in this colour but crap in that colour', surely something is amiss. Plus, remember near enough anything looks good in black... I've seen plenty and tried my hardest to get to like them, but it just don't do it for me. Definately a wasted opportunity IMHO. I've had A4's for the past 6 years, if I was up for a new one, I think i'd be looking elsewhere.
UBM
Indeed! The A6 looks good with the new beak, as does the A8. I'd keep your B6 Sparky - or you'll lose even more cash buying a B7 then a B8!
Sparky
Am I going to have big problems when trading my B6 in though, say in 2.5 years time? My main concern was I still like the B6 A4 way more than the B7 (although that pic at the start of this thread is very nice), but I think I'm going to get a big shock come trade-in thanks to the lying gits, sorry, Dealers who claimed it was ages before the B7 was due out. I know nothing has been mentioned of the B8 - but anyone got some educated guesses at when it might be due? I saw a silver B7 this morning - S-line version (After having my GmbH kit, I'd not drop below S-line), and it looked stunning. Having said that.... I still love the look of mine when it's sat in a car park and I'm walking over to it.

pablos4
So you go and buy a nice shiny new B7 S-Line... then 12-18 months down the line Audi bring out the "special limited edition" DTM version or whatever (pound to a pinch there'll be something...), and hey presto it's deja vu time again..
