blackjack
In November I shall be attending the wedding of one of my cousins in New Jersey and because the wedding is in the middle of nowhere, I will need to hire a car. Because I like driving and trying out different types of cars I want something different from the 'mid size sedan' it would be practical for me to hire. The new shape Ford Mustang would be nice, but I've yet to forgive Hertz for not having any in stock last time I wanted one and plaming me off with a Buick. I'm also thinking about going the whole hog and getting something daft. Can anyone reccomend any rental firms in NY/NJ that will rent me something a little less ordinary for a couple of days. An orange Dodge Charger like the Dukes of Hazard had would be cool, as would a vinatge Mustang, heck I quite fancy the idea of driving round in a black Lincoln navigator for a few days. cruiser647
I would have thought most rental cars companies will have them. Avis should. Otherwise, plenty of internet use should get you a 'specialist' company.

beez
Also http://www.nycexoticcarrentals.com/convertible-sportscars.html There's a section called 'American Muscle' with a mustang and a dodge viper I think.
sayerbloke
Most should do you a Camaro if you ask nicely. But any of the "normal" rental companies will probably only be able to get hold of an automatic. Don't know if you consider that a problem

blackjack
Thanks for all the tips guys, I found some pretty cool stuff, though sadly not the Dukes of Hazard style Dodge Charger I would have loved to drive. I went away and did a bit of thinking about this and am debating whether to get something that will impress me, shock my the family (moneyed Long Island types, not the sort of Americans that bring embarasment upon their nation) or get something good. I've narrowed my selection to what is below 1, Cadilac Escalade - I loathe so called SUV's as you know, but American roads are wide enough for them just about and turning up in a black and chrome Escalade would have novelty value. 2, Lincoln Navigator - As above but its a souped up Ford rather than a souped up Chevy. 3, Ford Mustang - What I usually go for in the US, the trouble is that Hertz might try and butt f*ck me by offering me a Chevy Monte Carlo instead. 4, Mazda 6 - I'm not going to get one of these but I thought I would mention it as Hertz list it as a sports car. 5, Jaguar S-Type - With the exception of the Mazda, this is the only car I have mentioned that does not have the handling and ride of a super tanker and is actually screwed together properly. That and I've always fancied the idea of having a Jag even if my next car will be a Saab. Thoughts?
