pomme
Hiya, I was just wondering when driving along and going past a speed camera, that if the disc holds data such as petrol stations surely they can have one that has speed cameras? Is this possible, or is there a download that you can use or something? Andrew
craigyb
I dont think any nav system built into cars can do this. The portable ones seem to hold POI databases that can be used to store speed cameras, but as the data changes so quickly the OEM nav systems do not. pomme
Hiya, thank you for the reply. Is a bit rubbish, as you would have thought that vw (baukpaunt) would think that people would like this added extra, even if it costs more. Am a bit supprised that the portable ones can and the inbuilt ones cant, as would have thought they are essentually the same, although i know one runs off a cd and one is downloads. But still would have thought that they would have made it so you could save to the cd like a cd-rw where you keep updating the info or something similar. a4tdi130
Unfortunately built-in nav systems are always out of date and behind the competition in terms of handheld ones (both in terms of maps and functionality). Add to this the fact that they usually cost atleast 4 times as much as a handheld system and this is why I would never spec satnav in a car again, and would always go with an afterkarmet kit. Tomk
i would agree with that, the in car system look nice , and do work well, but all my friends that see my TOMTOM even on my mobile say it looks/feels/ and works better than there in car kit..
