VW Golf GTI 8V in need of a VW Specialist

First post so go gentle on me.

I own a VW Golf GTI 8V 1988 in mint show room condition. Unfortunately over a year ago someone decided to drive into the passenger door and after a bit of a battle with the insurance company its been fully repaired to A1 standards. The problem is that it needs to go for an MOT to get back on the road and although I don't want to let the car go I have got to accept that the car is 17 years old and maybe not be financially viable to repair.

So here is my problem, can anyone recommend a VW Golf GTI 8V garage that can give the car some TLC and tell me what needs to be done to breathe life into my pride and joy? There is lots of garages in and around Milton Keynes where I live but I want to take it to a VW specialist that knows what they are doing and will love the car as much as I do.

As I said I live in Milton Keynes but I am happy to take the car any where in UK to find the right garage.

Don't know any in MK, but you can try Stealth Racing in Warwickshire, J12 M40, that shouldn't be too far from you.

They know your car inside & out.

Thanks Alex I'll give them a go. Just looked at their site and its looks interesting although i just want to overhall the car not tune it up so i am not sure whether they would be the best garage to go too. But i will give Vince a call. Anyone know of any other garages

Well they don't just tune, they do regular repairs, servicing, MOT's, computer wheel alignment etc.

If you want quality bodywork, then there's a bodyshop just round the corner from them who specialises in VW's (the owner has a magazine featured Mk4 1.8T).

I can highly recommend both places as I have used them and they really know their stuff.

Try Clover Autos in North Weald/Epping (VW/Audi specailist)

or there's Westside Motors in Woodford Green (VW garage selling loads of Campers, Beetle's etc)

Both have been around for years, especailly clover, so should be well knowlegable with your 8v.
