TonyD
It was a good experience, and it sure put a smile on my face. However, after having read all the comments already posted by all the owners out there I was on the lookout for some of the issues and I definetly found that I could relate to some of the comments being made. 1. Stereo. The car had the Delta Upgrade and although it sounds better than the standard Gamma it still leaves a bit to be desired. Shame on you VW. 2. Squeaks and creaks. Quite a few of them actually, especially from the back seats and parcel shelf area. I'm sure I could put up with them for a while but I'm sure I'd get annoyed soon enough. 3. Fuel consumption. Okay, I only had the car for a one hour test drive and my right foot wasn't that close to the floor because I wanted to see how it would perform driving it sensibly, but I only managed to average 19-20 mpg. I was shocked! 4. Bucket seats. Very comfy, but two problems. Firstly, I agree with Bison that not being able to bring the headrest forward would be very annoying on a long-ish journey. Secondly, trying to let people into the back would be a nightmare as when you bring the seat forward it touches the roof, hence making it pretty hard for people to get into and out of the back seats. Anyway, having said all of that I can definetly say that it was a pleasure driving it and it turned quite a few heads. The exhaust noise is amazing and I loved the little 'burble' it produces when you first fire it up and set off. All you people with R32's are very lucky.... you've made a good choice. If I could sell my Anni without losing too much money I would seriously consider buying one of these babies as I have now seen a couple priced up at £23-£24k which in my opinion is money well spent. Newbie123
Nice review Tony, just wish I could get a test drive seeing how I've ordered the car . But having said that I see Vantage VW are selling one in Leeds so I might have to take a trip over there, it's done 9000 miles and they have put it up at £28000 greedy barstewards ! Tony, access to the rear is easily solved by getting the 5dr
TonyD
[ QUOTE ] Tony, access to the rear is easily solved by getting the 5dr [/ QUOTE ] Very true! I was lucky to get a drive I suppose. I know that lots of people are buying these cars without driving them. Luckily I have known the Sales Manager at my local VW dealer for about 4 years now so he let me take it out. I have been the only 'punter' to have had that privilige. It's done 3,000 miles and is up at £26,995. He said I can have it for £26,000. It has good spec; Black with Black leather, Delta, Cruise, Tracker. I've seen others advertised for £30k on Auto-Trader..... those people must be dreaming. Chins
The seat doesnt catch on the passengers side. My R32 is up for sale at £23,850 which is a bit more reasonable. Deep Blue, 3000 miles, Full Leather and Delta. Jonathan
TonyD
I'm very very tempted..... I saw your's on the Autotrader website this morning along with the others. I need to get rid of the Anni though.... don't fancy a deal-up do you?
iceman
The R32 at Vantage Leeds has Colour Sat Nav.
Chins
I'm afraid I'm not interested in an Anniversary. What we could all do with is an email list for all the professional buyers out there. VW doesnt show them on their web site. I havent tried yet, but have in the past phoned some of the more active dealers and asked for the buyer. Some take the mickey, but you sometimes hit the right time right place. If you have the right car, you'll get a good offer. JOnathan
Newbie123
[ QUOTE ] The R32 at Vantage Leeds has Colour Sat Nav. [/ QUOTE ] But it doesn't have full leather, so it could have only cost between £25000 and £26000 maximum.
Woppum
So Tony, what do you think, does it need the AMD remap, or is cool anyway?
TonyD
Woppum, I suppose it depends what you're used to. I've got 180bhp in my Anni and it feels fast enough, therefore when I drove the R32 the extra power was like 'wow' ! If I bought an R32 I would probably leave it with the standard 240bhp for at least a few months before tinkering with it.... I really do think it's fast enough. Put it this way....it gets to 100mph in no time at all.... I was doing almost 140 and it was no sweat for the car.... I then decided my driving licence was to valuable so I promptly slowed down!!
