pauls1980
For my current car, that's a mk4 golf gti 1.8t. What's it gonna be like when I pick my r32 up on Thursday???
bazza_g
That isn't a huge figure for the 1.8T so I reckon you've got a pretty heavy right foot !! I'd guess at low 20's in the R
TP27
Spot on Bazza.....expect anything ranging from 18mpg to 26mpg, depending on how you drive. You will notice a difference (in performance) between Optimax 98 and 'normal' 95 Ron fuel too.
pauls1980
Whilst I'm feeling flush I'm going to fill up with the optimax, why not feed her the good stuff eh? Bazza I agree with you I am pretty heavy footed as a rule, I expect low figures such as TPs quote although I've already "decided" that a clean license is precious commodity and I'm not going to put it in too much jeopardy. pauls1980
Baz, my gran used to drive the boxter s and if I'm honest, the first thing I thought once I heard the growl of the r was, this sounds a bit like her old porsche. Would you agree?
bazza_g
firstly I'd say you've got a fecking cool Gran for driving a Boxster S ! I'm loving the howl of the exhaust but if I'm honest I still prefered the rasp of the R32 on a cold morning
pauls1980
She's had a few nice motors since I was a child, 911, Boxster, Boxster S, now a clk 350 which I have to admit isn't as cool as a porsche but a dark motor nonetheless. I'm looking forward to showing her and gramps the r.

[/ QUOTE ] I'd recommend feeding her Optimax all teh time, not just when your flush with the pennies! 98RON is the recommended fuel, only use 95RON as an emergency measure to get you to some Optimax or other 97/98RON fuel. Mook
Average over 2000+ miles on the trip computer used to be 22+ mpg. It's now gone to 23+ mpg with the AmD stage 4 conversion. I have a fairly heavy right foot... It'll even do 30+ mpg if I stick the cruise on at 80 down the M3... Optimax all the time. The price difference between it and BP Ultimate, Esso Super and all the rest is negligable, and the R needs to run on 98 octane - like SixDegrees says - only use normal unleaded if you absolutely have to. Have fun
