johnydeath
Hi Folks, my wife's 1995 Golf 1.4 Mk3 has developed a fault. It will not fire and there appears to be no petrol being pumped. The pump is not working and I do not have any voltage at fuse 18 which is for the pump - the fuse is fine. I have changed relay 167 which is the fuel one but still nothing. If I put some petrol into the carb it will fire until its burnt off. Is there anything else I can check before paying a professional my spondoolies? Many thanks
johnydeath
Hi Folks, an update to this problem - the lack of pump may or may not have been a red herring as it has now cleared and is pumping away merrily. The original fault however still remains. The car will fire up when I put petrol direct in the throttle housing and run until burnt off. I also notice there is a device on the reat of the throttle housing that is controlled by an 8 way plug (7 wires connected) that when I pull the plug off, the car will start and run, although when I put my fort on the acelerator it dies. Any ideas please - is this a fuel pressure reg?
