RobertPBham
Just wondering what oil folks use on a E46 M3. I know that they recommend Castrol, but do you get yours from the dealer or Halfords and the like - if it's a 3rd party, what Castrol do you use? Is Shell Helix any good? Thanks Rob
Gareth
You need to use Castrol TWS oil really. There is a Castrol Direct mail order place and they are the cheapest. A dealer will charge anything up to £20 a litre and you can buy it for half that...
RobertPBham
Thanks for that. Only thing is, I've just had a look on the Castrol UK web page and cannot see any reference to TWS - GTX Magnetec and all sorts, but no TWS. Any advice? Thanks once again

NewNiceMrMe
Well it's TWS on the counter behind service reception and they left a full bottle of that in my boot yesterday too - so presumably that's what they've put in it.
gavbrem
BMW dealers should stock TWS oil, we defiantly do.
oilman
You don't need 10w-60 in the E46. The BMW Tech Bulletin dated 01.11.04 states that only the following models need 10w-60 M43/CNG S54 S62/E39 (up to 02/2000) For all other models its LL01 0w-30, 5w-30, 0w-40 and 5w-40. BigGrin
The e46 m3 has the s54 engine, castrol tws 10w60 is specially developed to run at the engine requirements (higher tension and shear). TWS is not the same as castrol RS 10w60. castrolclassicoils.co.uk sell it - £42.50 for 4 litres delivered. [ QUOTE ] You don't need 10w-60 in the E46.
