Waylander
irst he tries to wheedle out of a contract with BAR to go to Williams, and having dragged everyone to the Contracts "court" he now says he wants to wheedle out of his contract with Williams and stay at/ go to BAR. The boy needs his head read...and better management, surely?
DaddyDub
Nope I would rather stay @ BAR, But then again I would rather stay at BAR with the Prodrive team behind them more.
silentandy
Not this time no, look how bad Williams are doing this year and how worse they will be when they lose the BMW engine.
apreading
If I had to make the choice (chance would be a nice thing!) I would go for BAR, but Williams will have a Cosworth next year, and Cosworth are the only engine manufacturer in the game with previous experience of V8s at this level - they did very well before. Cosworth should be able to easily avoid the vibration problems everyone else is having with the V8s because they have done so before. So it possible in the lottery that is F1 that Williams could be the dominant force next year. Unlikely perhaps, but possible...
Mook
Williams went totally down th pan after Villeneuve won the championship in 97 when they switched to Supertec (Renault non-works) engines. They've never returned to form - it's been McLaren then Ferrari ever since. I think that for Button to stay at BAR, Honda should supply Williams with works engines at a reduced cost - they like Button big time and want to keep him. It's a shame all this is going on - Button needs to stay put and put his stamp on the world next year, before Alonso and Raikonnen manage to become the next generation of top drivers. FiftyPence
Do we think Button is ever going to win a race or a World Championship
Waylander
I meant more in terms of his contractual obligations and the way he has tried to consistently wriggle out of making poor long-/intermediate-term decisions.
Thorburn
To be fair to him the deal was signed by his old management who he then sacked.
ian_m
I heard that Williams were thinking of selling Buttons contract to BAR in return for a share of the honda engines. If I had to choose, I would stay at BAR I think Jenson will win a race this season
NeilB
[ QUOTE ] Do we think Button is ever going to win a race or a World Championship [/ QUOTE ] Races yes, championships? No. He can't really overtake or defend to be honest (Imola 2005 springs to mind) He seems the driver who will stride off into the distance if he's got a good car and is in the lead. Williams have never been the same since 1996, Villeneuve drove like he's driving this year in 1997, and by rights should of had the title sewn up by France if he was driving right. But it would of been intresting what Jenson would be doing now if the CRB had found in Williams favour last year? Probabaly trying to get out of the contract... Waylander
My opinion though is if he has a contract then he should do what he said and go to Williams, to be honest he should think about what he is doing IMO. There are only 10 teams in Formula 1 after all, there are only so many you can annoy

Waylander
not quite. SG almost honours new contracts but then balks at the last minute. Button keeps making new contracts just so that he can break them and stay where he is.....
