NewNiceMrMe
In the 645/Car choice thread someone asked about a Z4 in Red that could just be seen in the background. Well I took a few pics of it today when I went back to the showroom. I tell you what too, it's a very nice looking car in my opinion. It's one they've bought into stock and although it doesn't have leather it looks like very good value for money to me. It's the 2.0 litre and is up at £24k (with a hefty discount available - because I asked) and I have to say I haven't seen any on the roads in red but I really think the car suits it. Thorburn
My mum wanted one in that red when she was looking (it would probably of been the SMG gearbox too) but then we got a cancelled order instead so she ended up with a grey one with a manual gearbox and a big discount. Me and dad were trying to talk her out of the red as it looked horrible in the brochure but in that pic it looks pretty nice We failed to talk her into buying an M3 Cabriolet though
FiftyPence
All the new BMs have got nasty looking steering wheels
DHA
That does look good in red, is it a solid colour?
NewNiceMrMe
Yep - plain old solid red. Looks very nice indeed in the showroom.

R32North
Thats nice... very nice! I do like the Z4. Long and sleek looking.... doubt I'll ever own one as it doesn't meet many / any of my reqts but I still do like it
Chav
Doesn't do it for me, and the interior is embarrassing! (IMO)

[/ QUOTE ] Twas me I have to say it looks good. I have one in black at the moment, and it looks great when clean. But that's the problem keeping it clean. Don't think I'll have another black car again, the red suits the Z4 very well and is definately an option if I opt for another Z4. Cheers for the pics
Newbie123
[ QUOTE ] Doesn't do it for me, and the interior is embarrassing! (IMO) [/ QUOTE ] Ahem, what's wrong with the interior? It's exactly the same as I've got
NewNiceMrMe
There's nothing wrong with the interior. It's a functional roadster layout and there is nothing wrong with it at all. Chav is used to the Blingmobile interior mind you and it is studded with diamonds remember...
activa
Looks OK in Red. I'm with Chav on the interior, looks plastic-fantastic but that could just be the picture. Can't quite get my head round seeing a car like that with a 2.0i badge-I realise not everyone wants out and out performance but that just seems a waste of time! Wadders67
Ahh...but look closer Activa...this car has no model designation..ie no badges. Therefore, apart from the single exhaust, there's nothing to give the engine size away...oh that and the engine note, the lack of 'Sport' button, the.. etc etc I am in agreement actually...I could not buy this car without the straight six under the bonnet...well, that's why I have the 2.5 variety...and love it (Interior and all)
Thorburn
Yep, who in there right mind would buy a roadster with such a small engine!!!!
jimdiesel
I like the Z4 but was shocked when I tried to sit in one. I am 6'5'' and 19st and just didnt fit. The interior is a nice design though the materials could be alittle better.
Thorburn
For me the only thing that really disappoints me is the feel of the door handles, they should be weightier, you almost expect to find brushed aluminium when you reach for them to match the large strip across the dash, but instead you get some surprisingly cheap feeling plastic ones. Apart from that though I like it

[/ QUOTE ] Someone who wants a Z4 but can't afford a big engine? And/or, someone who is running it as a company car will save an absolute fortune in benefit in kind tax (on car and fuel if provided with fuel for private use) by opting for a lower emissions version. Thorburn
Ari, was kinda some self mocking going on there rather than a serious question
Ari
By the way, my BMW Z4 review is HERE for anyone interested.
NewNiceMrMe
The concept of a Roadster is fun - not out and out performance. I'm personally not a huge fan of the Z4, but I do think this one looks nice. The basic 2.0 litre unit isn't a slouch in the Z4 either. It develops 150bhp, 148lbs ft of torque, hit's 60 in 8.2 seconds and goes on to do 134mph. Ok, it's not fast, but if you keep the 2.0 litre up the revs range it's a lively little thing. On their own, they're not startling figures - but mix them with a 2 seater in the open air and you can have a lot of fun indeed. However, it also returns better than 35mpg on the combined cycle!!!! Even around town you'll get close to 28 mpg from it. The one in the pictures is the SE too. When all is said and done the car above is a brand new BMW Roadster for a price that will almost certainly be negotiated close to £21k without too many problems. That's one hell of a lot of fun for the money in my opinion.
AudiPartner
Nice car. The chap I bought my M3 from had a black one. Its all about these though....

Ari
[ QUOTE ] Yep...kiss of death spec A very bad buy even if they are giving it away [/ QUOTE ] How so? It's exactly the spec you want on the base model, cloth seats and no metallic to keep the price down, but a few goodies that the SE spec brings. You got to bear in mind that this car will appeal to someone who was thinking of an MX5 but realises that a Z4 with small engine and basic spec comes within price range (dearer, but not stupidly so). If I had circa £20K to spend on a roadster it's probably exactly what I'd buy.
