eltax90
I recently (yesterday) joined the VW owners club! Very excited to get my hands on a Golf 1.9 TDI (115bhp) Estate. The previous owner was registered as disabled, and i am unsure if this is related as i read in the manual that the central locking can be modified by a dealer. Well, basically, the rear drivers side door does not open - from either the inside or the outside. Whether the car is unlocked by the key or the remote it still does not open! At first i thought it may be a child lock - but being a car dummy i realised that it still would open from the outside even if this was enabled! Could someone help me please? My passengers are already going spare after just one day! And the dogs hate it.... Thanks in anticipation. Paul
Mook
Welcome to TsN Paul! If you bought your Golf from a mail dealer, I would take it back to them and ask them to sort it out. If not, it could be a loose or broken wire, connector or solenoid. You can only find this out by removing the door trim (not too hard a job to do it yourself). A replacement solenoid is about £30 + VAT from a main dealer (only place you can get them). Best of luck
mulkbear
It is very common for the door locks mechinsm to fail and lock the door (try banging the door with you hand and pull on the door handle)
eltax90
Hi, The bang on the door trick works a treat! The only problem is that it opens fine until i lock then unlock the car. Then, once again, it starts sticking! Dont really wanna keep hitting my car to make the door open! Is there anyway to cure this? or is it purely down to under use (--> Edit: Because thats what the local garage i purchased it from told me was the cause!!)?? Also, just out of interest - what the hell does the ASR button on my dash do?? Regards Paul
