Razaq
I recently bought a W reg passat tdi sport but have discovered that the undertrays are missing. Does anyone know where I can pick up some for reasonable money and do I really need them?
Mook
You'll have to try a breaker yard - the only source for these is VW and they cost a small fortune...
jozza66
Agreed, Just ordered a rear axle lining tray, at a cost of £30 for lump of plastic! Juat waiting for the bodyshop to work their magic now . . .
felixthecat1
Where did you get it from? If it was d dealer it might be worth asking what the feck happened to it in the first place?
Razaq
I bought the car from a garage who bought it from the VW dealer in Portsmouth. I have been back to the garage and they claim that they were not aware that the trays were missing and that they sold me the car as seen. It would appear that the car was grounded at some stage and trays were "ripped" off. On top of all this they front tray was removed by some cowboy who cut the inner wheel arches trim to remove the tray.
felixthecat1
Feckers!!!!! Never mind, so long as it's mechanically sound there should be no problems. You need to get another one though as it is there for a reason. Get down to your local scrappy.
mulkbear
If you were to buy the under trays from a dealer (there are two under trays as your car is a tdi) you are talking £150+

ocrp
Have the same problem, only mine are still attached but very loose. According to responses to a similar question I posted a while back, it seems you DO need them. Have been doing the rounds of all the scrap dealers for over 6 months and it seems a very rare part indeed! If you are desperate enough, you'll have to shell out for the dealers full ripoff price. I'm still gonna sit tight....

Wobby
So this is why all the VW's in Newcastle dont have any trays after they have been serviced
Wobby
If they are attached but loose, wont some of the fastenings have fallen off? I thoink they are a special design so that you have to keep buying more each month I bought a load for mine, he told me a price and (silly me) i said to him, "how manys in the pack" The price was for 1 !!! i thought it would be for a pack of 10. I spent £28 on a handful of small pieces of plastic and metal. I had previously taken the tray off, it was only held on with 3 fixings. mulkbear
I know the clips i have a tool box full If a under tray is damaged most customers just have a taken off and don't replace it so i gets some clips to throw at a apprentice
Wobby
Next time i need some you can post me some Oohh, and sorry i was nasty to you before RobK
ocrp
Its much worse than that. There is a massive gash along the width of it at the front. Its in a bad way. Don't think fastenings will help. Maybe Mulkbear will throw some in too! (seeing that he has so many)
rhough01
Weird - I bought a W reg passat tdi sport not long ago and have been having a lot of problems keeping the undertrays on. They keep dangling down and scraping on the floor. I need to find a source for the schud (spelling??) fasteners that hold them on.
Wobby
Mulkbear is the man !!! Just look in his tool box Another option is to use a bolt to hold the tray tight in the centre and then its safe when the other ($hit) fasteners all fall off. The fasteners are a rip off from VW, i have spent too much on them so far RobK
Waitey
My undertray was ripped off by a rock, it split in two nearly, my local garage drilled both sides and held it together with cable ties worked perfic and only cost a few quid.
